I just wanted to bring you up to date on the new features here at http://www.macksmets.blogspot.com/ .
Our “experiment” with a paid subscription site is over. As George Harrison once said, “all things must past…”.
We will not change locations again. The site will remain a blogspot site, warts and all. Our attendance rate is down around the same percentage as the Mets home attendance this year, which is a direct result of changing web addresses four times in a year. The abrupt loss of “Mack On Baseball” cost us much content and left readers, especially the draft followers, with all that information lost to the web. We seem to be slowly getting the 2012 class to come to the site, but for now, we’re currently averaging around 700 page views a day, down from an average of 1,000. PGChecker has reduced our page rank number to 3, down from 4 which we earned earlier this year. Alexa has us as the 286,822nd most viewed web site in the United States.
Most of the past MM writers have returned:
-Sir David Rubin, formerly of http://sheanation.blogspot.com/ and currently a contributor to http://www.metsfever.com/ , is an administrator/contributor to the site and is featured ever Sunday with his “West Coast Report”. A special thanks to David for designing the new header on the site.
-Director of Digital Marketing and BD of EDR and author of Social Schmoozing (http://derekshowerman.com/ ), Derek Showerman, is a weekly contributor. A special thank you to DS for designing the new wallpaper on the site.
-Charles Thompson, one of Mack’s Mets most informative and loyal readers, adds his thoughts once a week.
-Wally Murphy, who has attended every Savannah Sand Gnats game ever played as a Mets affiliate, fills us in on the recap of every home game from the Coastal Empire.
-Jack Flynn, past fellow contributor to http://www.flushinguniversity.com/ and owner/operator of the New York Long Island Strat League (http://nylistratleague.tripod.com/ ), adds his thoughts every Friday.
There’s no set posting schedule here, but most of the Mets postings take place from 8am-3pm, while the draft stuff goes online from 3-11pm.
Lastly, you will notice a bunch of advertisers on the site. Only one produced revenue for the site in 2011. Total 2011 revenue is; $75.00.
We just started a donation push that will last until August 1st. (all postings on this site will always remain 100% free). Our goal is $999, which will pay for a service call to clean up my 7-year old laptop and travel expenses for a trip to the VA hospital for a procedure coming up at the end of this month. Any amount will be greatly appreciated.
