Syracuse 4, Buffalo 3

The Bisons started the scoring in the first inning of Tuesday's game in Syracuse, but it was the Chiefs that scored the final tally...a mere four hours and 28 minutes later.

Just a shade before Tuesday turned into Wednesday, the Chiefs walked off with a 4-3 victory over the Herd at Alliance Bank Stadium on Brian Bixler's sac fly in the bottom of the 12th inning.

A marathon of a game went into extra innings knotted at three. The Chiefs then got a one-out double by Seth Bynum in the 12 inning. After a passed ball and an intentional walk to Steve Lombardozzi, Bixler drove the first pitch he saw from Brian Sweeney deep to left field, giving Jason Botts no chance of throwing out Bynum tagging from third.

The Bisons had a one-run lead going into the seventh inning but the Chiefs pulled even on another sacrifice fly, this one by outfielder Jesus Valdez.

This is the second game that the Bisons have lost to the Chiefs in extra innings, the first coming on July 2 in 11-innings, when they lost 6-5.

The Herd took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on Jesus Feliciano's second home run of the season. Valentino Pascucci and Luis Herandnez plated runs in the third inning to give Buffalo a 3-2 edge.

Herd Starter Dylan Owen worked six innings and gave up four hits, two runs and four walks. He struck out five Chiefs batters.

Game Notes:Valentino Pascucci now has 11RBI in five games since the All-Star break. Jose De La Torre pitched an 1.1 innings and walked three batters. It was his first appearance since May 5 because of a lengthy stint on the disabled list
