Satin Named to Postseason All-Star Team

BINGHAMTON, NY – Binghamton Mets infielder Josh Satin has been named to the 2011 Eastern League Postseason All-Star Team. Currently playing with the Buffalo Bisons (AAA) of the International League, Satin earns his first postseason All-Star honors.

Satin, 26, tore up the Eastern League, hitting .325 in 94 games with the B-Mets. He collected 35 doubles, ripped 11 home runs, and compiled a .423 on-base percentage.

With 404 plate appearances, Satin will remain on the league leader board through the end of the season. He currently sits first in on-base percentage (.423), third in batting average (.325) and slugging percentage (.538), and tied for third in doubles (35).

In his second stint at the Double-A level, Satin jumped right out of the gate, winning the Eastern League Player of the Week award in mid-April. He hit .319 during the first month of the season and kicked his average to .324 heading into the All-Star Break.

Satin was rewarded for his consistent offense with a trip to the Eastern League All-Star Game in Manchester, New Hampshire. In his third straight All-Star contest, Satin started at second base and went 0-for-1 with a walk.

Satin closed out his time with the B-Mets on a high-note, reaching base safely in his final 45 games, the longest streak of the season for any Eastern Leaguer. The stretch included a historic night against the Bowie Baysox, when he became the first B-Met in the franchise’s 20-year history to hit for the cycle, performing the feat on June 24.

His efforts earned him a promotion to the Buffalo Bisons on July 22. Satin has kept the offense going at the next level. In 32 games with the New York Mets’ Triple-A affiliate, he has hit .331, collected seven doubles and driven in 15 runs. He recently compiled a 15-game hitting streak, the fourth-longest for any Bison this season.

Selected by the Mets in the 25th round of the 2008 draft out of the University of California-Berkley, Satin began his professional career with the Brooklyn Cyclones (SS-A). He split time between the Savannah Sand Gnats (Low-A) and St. Lucie Mets (High-A) in 2009, before being promoted to Binghamton (AA) in June 2010.
