1. Astros - This is an easy pick. North Carolina State LHP Carlos Rodon is just about guaranteed to be picked first no matter who the team would be. He’s that far ahead of the rest of this class, both in high school and college.
2. Marlins – There is some debate over who the second pick will be, but no one denies the fact that Shepard (TX) HS RHP Tyler Kolek won’t be in the top five. I have him just slightly ahead of the nation’s top right handed college pitcher, who I have going fourth to the Cubs.
3. White Sox – Everybody loves a great defensive catcher, but everybody especially loves one that can also hit, throw 100mph, and project out as a corner outfielder. An easy pick at number three: Rancho Bernardo (CA) HS C Alex Jackson.
4. Cubs – East Carolina RHP Jeff Hoffman keeps bouncing up and down the top ten picks, but he’ll be a solid top five pick as soon as the college season gets going.
5. Twins – Everyone loves a power college junior RHP and Vanderbilt’s Tyler Beede will give Hoffman a run at being the first college righty picked in this draft.
6. Mariners – There’s a bunch of good shortstops this year, but none better than Clovis (CA) HS Jacob Gatewood.
7. Phillies – He probably will be followed by North Carolina State SS Trae Turner who has been ranked as high as second behind his teammate Rodon.
8. Rockies – We’re now finished with the top tier level; howver, the next ‘best player available’ based on pure tools would be Coral Springs (FL) RHP Touki Toussaiant.
9. Blue Jays – And the top ten picks would round out with another high school righty, Conway (SC) HS Grant Holmes.
10. Mets – You’re on your own here… :)

I'll pass on the SS, we have enough SS prospects.
Best pitcher available is my pick every day of the week. You can build your team easily by having depth at starting pitching. You keep bringing pitchers up through your minors and every year you can trade a ML starter and add two or three good to great prospects to your system or ML position players.
Best pitcher available. Every time for every pick in the first 100 picks. If you have three top 100 picks, pick the bet three available on every one.
Dunno. Good hitters are becoming more scarce by the year. I'm happy that the Mets seem to have a prospect with a serious hit tool in Dom Smith. Baseball is changing in the post drugs era. There seem to be more guys that can pitch and have plus velocity - and less impact bats.
ditto with Charlie. If the front office went that way we could have Fernandez and Wacha ....enough said. As far as y/day's war room post I'm answering my own question about the DH. I was a big Dodger fan before the Mets came to be and always rooted for the NL in the allstar games back when they mattered and thought the idea of the DH was blasphemy....HOW DARE THEY! Now over forty years later I'm rethinking my position. With the preponderance of pitchers who throw mid to upper 90's along with 13 man pitching staff's throughout baseball as well as the drop in overall power #'s post PEDS my love of the 1-0, 2-1 pitchers duel is dwindling. I guess the last 5 years of Met baseball is probably what drove me in this direction but after watching the post season this year wouldn't it be nice to have our own David Ortiz type player to come to bat instead of another exciting Jeremy Hefner et al AB?
Braxton Davidson and it's not even close. Kid is a flat out stud in a position of need for the Mets.
