Mack's spin -
No one in this draft has been hurt more by COVID than Hill.
Yes, he is a high rated reliever, but no one projects his future in the pen. He hasd pitched so little in college and needs a full season of weekend starts.
The fastball is a little inconsistent, but it still sit around 95.
A lot of helium here, but I project him as a future star in this game.

Areas To Improve: Maintain stuff in starter’s role, slider consistency, start full season
Hill has a chance for the best pure stuff in the 2021 class, but he has just 21.2 collegiate innings under his belt. He, more than perhaps any other college pitcher, needs a full season as a starter to prove his stuff is legit and holds up in a starting role and over a complete season. Additionally, Hill’s newfound power slider doesn’t have the same track record as his fastball/changeup combination, so proving the consistency of that pitch will also be important.

Jaden Hill
RHP, Louisiana State
The Angels would certainly love to add another arm to their system come July, and if Jaden Hill slides this far, General Manager Perry Miniasian should be thrilled. Primarily a reliever during his short LSU career, Hill will be making his way to the weekend rotation for the 2021 season. While he has touched 97-98 MPH this fall, the velocity was ordinarily 92-94 MPH. Hill still has a very good slider and a developing change-up to round out his arsenal, though he's seemingly just scratching the surface of what he's capable of. Hill didn't even throw a breaking ball when he arrived in Baton Rouge, so developing feel for his repertoire should only improve moving forward. It's a premier starter's body and supreme arm speed and athleticism.

It wouldn’t be too hard to argue that Hill has the best stuff in the 2021 draft class. Ranked the No. 86 prospect out of high school in a deep prep class, Hill always had a solid fastball/changeup combination and a frame to dream on but discovering a slider at Louisiana State took him to the next level. Hill was a standout quarterback in high school and was told to throw his slider like he threw a football, and it clicked. Now, Hill has a fastball that was in the 96-98 mph range as a reliever and potential 60-grade pitches in his changeup and new power slider. On top of that, Hill has a legitimate cutter he throws in the 88-91 mph range, giving him a fourth pitch that could be above average. With electric arm speed and a powerful, 6-foot-4, 235-pound frame, what’s not to like? Well, scouts aren’t sure about Hill’s future role. He’s only thrown 21.2 innings in his collegiate career thanks to injuries and a shortened 2020 season, and half of those innings have come in a reliever role. He’ll need to prove he can handle the rigors of starting while still maintaining his stuff. If he does that, Hill should be among the first arms to come off the board in the 2021 draft.

Relief Pitcher - Jaden Hill, Louisiana State
All signs point toward Hill making the jump to the starting rotation next spring, and although he doesn’t have many innings logged during his career he may have the best stuff in the class. Hill is a super physical, electric-armed right-hander who has been up to 99 mph in terms of velocity to go along with a plus slider and, potentially, a plus-plus changeup. He’s got electric arm speed and due to the low mileage the ceiling is incredibly high for Hill. He’s always excelled at both avoiding hits and missing bats as he’s sure to rack up the strikeout numbers along with avoiding contact. He’s due for a significant breakout and how well he pitches will likely determine his draft stock next spring.

Jaden Hill - Louisiana State RHP
The Mets have invested a lot of their early picks in high school players in recent years, though their draft philosophy could change under new ownership.
Hill would be a tremendous value for New York and realistically may be gone long before the 10th pick comes around. If he had more than 21.2 collegiate innings under his belt, he might be regularly talked about in the same range as Kumar Rocker. He has three potential plus pitches on top of a great frame and clean delivery. Now he just needs to go out and perform. Hill has a chance to become the fourth LSU righthander drafted in the top 10 picks, joining Ben McDonald, Kevin Gausman and Aaron Nola.

11. Washington Nationals: Jaden Hill, RHP, LSU
Hill could easily be a top-five pick in the 2021 MLB draft. But to accomplish that, Hill needs to prove to scouts that he can remain healthy for an entire season and thrive in a large sample size. He has ace potential.

Colorado Rockies
As the Rockies once again prepare to strip everything down to the studs, it’s once again time to figure out the identity they want to carry going forward. Thankfully they are still in Tier 1 arm territory, and if LSU’s Jaden Hill is available here, there’s no reason for them not to pounce. Hill’s value is based on his potential, as he has less mileage than his other tier 1 contemporaries. He has three solid offerings, a mid to high 90’s fastball, and a lively change-curve combination. Furthermore, his athleticism makes him an intriguing dark horse top 5 candidate. If Hill can pitch well in extended use this spring, there’s a strong possibility he doesn’t last this far, so this is most likely his floor.

2021: No. 5 | 2018: No. 78
Then: "Hill works in the low 90s and reaches 95 mph with life on his fastball, showing a tendency to pick up velocity in the middle innings. For a high schooler who has been divided between two sports, he has a remarkably advanced changeup, throwing it with deceptive arm speed and good velocity separation while imparting sink and fade ... If he goes to college and focuses on baseball, he has the potential to develop into a first-rounder in the 2021 Draft."
Now: A three-star quarterback recruit, Hill turned down mid-level football programs and the Cardinals as a 38th-rounder. An elbow injury as a freshman and the pandemic this year have limited him to 21 2/3 college innings thus far, but he has added close to 40 pounds and now works with a mid-90s fastball that touches 99 mph and a still-nasty changeup. He has transformed his breaking ball from more of a slurve in high school to a true mid-80s slider.

6. Arizona Diamondbacks: Jaden Hill, RHP, LSU
Hill could end up being the best pitcher in the SEC in 2021 and that’s saying something with the Vanderbilt hurlers in front of him currently. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound former quarterback has been pumping upper nineties heat this fall and his plus changeup could get him drafted even higher than this come July. Hill has had some injury questions and command issues, but he profiles as a front of the rotation starter at his peak.

Jaden Hill, RHP (2021): While it was tempting to list freshman slugger Dylan Crews here, Hill’s durable frame and electric arm have many calling him the 3rd best college pitching prospect.

5. Orioles: Jaden Hill, RHP, Louisiana State
Hill pitched just 21 2/3 innings in his first two years at Louisiana State because of a strained elbow in 2019 and the shortened season last spring. Yet he's similar to Rocker with less slider but more changeup, nearly as much physicality and better athleticism.
