Joe Jaconski is a 2021 SS/2B/3B with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Plymouth Meeting, PA who attends Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.71 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, shows controlled actions moving towards the ball and is able to adjust to hops well, fields ball closer to body with sound actions, quick release from an easy arm action, ball comes out cleanly and projects for additional strength. Also pitched, shows good glove side mechanics and an on line delivery working to a high three-quarters release point with a short, quick and easy arm action. Fastball topped out at 79 mph, shows control through the zone with running life down in the zone. Curveball flashed depth and 11-5 shape up to 69 mph and mixed well to keep hitters off balance. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a medium hand set with a high back elbow in the box. Utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing, stays inside the ball and shows a short and direct swing path. Sound approach at the plate and found the barrel in game. Uses all fields with and able to create back spin at point of contact, shows a feel for the barrel and projects moving forward.

Buzz: MLB teams love to take early looks at shortstops who figure to stay up the middle, and with Joe Jaconski, that is certainly not a question. He’s a clean fielder at the position with plenty of range and a strong arm. But what has made the North Carolina commit start to pop more as a prospect has been his bat. He flashed more power as a sophomore and his quick swing should help him be able to make consistent contact as he moves up the baseball ladder. Jaconski has a top-of-the-lineup profile as a shortstop, and that will make him a prospect teams want to check in on come draft day.

2/23/20 - North Carolina commit. 6-foot-1, 175-pound left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and uses a short, leg-lift stride to initiate his swing. Gets on plane early and hands work extremely well through contact. Showed the ability to drive the baseball gap-to-gap with consistent back spin. Registered a bat exit velocity of 89 mph and ran a 7.14 60-yard dash. Showcased easy, fluid defensive actions with effortless 84 mph arm strength across the diamond. Makes plays on the move while consistently setting himself up for good hops.

Mack's spin -

I haven't heard much about Jaconski and where he would go in the draft.

That being said, look for him on Day 3.
