Good Morning.  Baseball Lockout - Day 67. Happy Birthday Benny Ayala, Charlie Puleo, and Endy Chavez.  Jon Heyman reports that the Union thinks an MLB offer will come "soon".

You’ve seen it with chasing ideas to drastically change how the game is played, whether good ideas – like an automated strike zone, – silly ideas, – like allowing batters to run to first if the ball gets away from the catcher at any count – or stupid ideas, like banning the shift. Kevin Kernan has been hitting them out of the park for ballnine.com lately.  Yesterday he talked about the joys of college baseball in Sherry, Sherry, Baby.

As if Baseball didn't have enough problems with the current lockout, Bob Nightengale at USA Today noted how "Brian Flores lawsuit holds a mirror up to MLB's disgraceful hiring practices". Where he included this fact:  "There have been 17 managerial openings in the past two off-seasons since Major League Baseball publicly vowed change in the wake off the George Floyd murder.  None of the jobs were filled by a black candidate."

2010 - The Leones del Escogido, representing the Dominican League, win the 2010 Caribbean Series with a 7 - 4 victory over the Leones del Caracas of the Venezuelan League in La Asunción, Nueva Esparta, Venezuela. Escogido finishes the tournament with a 5-1 record and Mets OF prospect Fernando Martinez is named the Series' MVP after hitting .348 with 2 homers and 4 RBI. It is Escogido's third Caribbean championship and first since 1990.

Nice to see the return of this AM update. Who could ask for anything more?

My grandfather was from Ireland, born in 1890, lived in NYC. I know his two sons were avid baseball fans - my grandpa never said if he was a Yankees fan - I'm guessing yes - and, being almost the same age, a likely a Babe Ruth fan. Interesting to speculate about.

Settle the CBA. Let My People Play, Charleton Heston might say.

LOL picture of the Babe with Dickey and Gomez and it looks like their ready for a cage match but then again all those old pics players look like that.
