Dodge Journey, Jenrry, F-Mart, Dull... and Confidence

Dodge Journey:

Jason Bay sat in the Mets duguout, sipping from a Dunkin’ Donuts cup of coffee, about the only habit he took away from his Red Sox’ days. Still modest and understated, Bay, recipient of a four-year, $66 million deal, said he took a “a little ribbing” about the Dodge Journey he’s rented here - “Where’s the Ferrari, I guess?” -  link

Jenrry:

Jenry Meija RHP (Mets) 5.025 - Despite his poor performace in the AFL and his inconsistency in AA he is still well thought of as a top prospect. Jenry is also having an excellent spring, and though the Mets would prefer to send him to AA to start, he could start the season in the bullpen with the Mets. His fastball hits the high 90s that he can keep late into games. He also has a plus changeup. The one concern is his small size. - link

F-Mart:

Fernando Martinez OF (Mets) 5.2 - With all the injuries to the Mets outfield it appeared that Fernando would get his opportunity to make his mark with the Mets in 2009. But Fernando has had trouble staying healthy and that bad luck continued with a knee injury that required season ending surgery. He was healthy enough to play winter ball, but with the acquisition of Jason Bay, he will need to start the season in AAA. He has yet to hit more than 10 homeruns in a season, but because of injuries he has not played more than 90 games - link

Dull:

There’s one thing you can say about the Mets. They’re not dull. And at least they have the best announcers in baseball, so their broadcasts are always watchable. Do you really want boring old competency? On-the-ball owners and a sane general manager? A manager who always makes the right moves? What kind of fun is that? Players who know how to touch all the bases? And know how to slide and catch pop-ups? How does that build character? How is that any fun? - link

Confidence:

Carlos Beltran planned to call Jose Reyes on Friday to offer support and encouragement as Reyes sat in New York waiting for his overactive thyroid gland to return to normal. Beltran offered similar hope and encouragement for a team that appears as if it will start the 2010 season with the same shortcomings that derailed its 2009 campaign. - link

-planned to call? why not just call?
