Bryce Harper:
3-12 from: - From: coachdave2@cox.net - I have seen Bryce play....and we have actually faced him many times. To be honest with you, I have seen many players a lot better than him in HS ball. Don't get me wrong, he has a truckload of talent, but I believe Boras is milking him to the draft. I have not seen the others on the list but I think he is not as good as they picture him. He has a great arm and above average speed but the numbers he put up are not the clear indicator as the pitching in our division was not the best and he got the benefit of a very small strike zone. I put a shift on him during the regular season and he tried to bunt unsuccessfully. He is a question mark with lots to prove. I personally do not believe that he should be the top pick in the draft and more of a 5-8 pick. What he has going for him is his age.....with lots of time to develop and he plays in a very good program...CSN...walking distance from my house and a field we use for many of our games.
Dylan Brown:
3-12 from http://www.pgcrosschecker.com/articles/DisplayArticle.aspx?article=2201 - DYLAN BROWN, of-ss, SR, Smithfield-Selma HS. A North Carolina State recruit, Brown has obvious talent but didn’t necessarily have one of his better days. Normally an outfielder, he was playing shortstop on this day, and while his actions were a little rough his hands and actions suggest that he might be able to play second base with some refinement. Offensively, Brown has a smooth, polished approach from the left side and grades out as an average runner.
Dillon Maples:
3-12 from http://www.pgcrosschecker.com/articles/DisplayArticle.aspx?article=2201 - DILLON MAPLES, rhp, JR, Pinecrest HS. One of the nation’s elite prospects in the 2011 class, Maples has already verbally committed to North Carolina. His fastball was generally in the 88-92 mph range, but topped out at 94 in the first inning. Maples also features an average to above-average breaking ball in the high 70s.
Connor Narron:
3-12 from http://www.pgcrosschecker.com/articles/DisplayArticle.aspx?article=2201 - CONNOR NARRON, ss, SR, C.B. Aycock HS. Narron was solid, as usual, in his team’s 8-4 victory over Smithfield-Selma. Tall and athletic at 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, Narron is a polished lefthanded hitter who should make an immediate impact in 2011 at North Carolina, if he’s not swooped up in this year’s draft. He is a smooth defender at shortstop, but his actions might be better suited for third base down the road.
Tate Parrish:
3-12 from http://www.pgcrosschecker.com/articles/DisplayArticle.aspx?article=2201 - TATE PARRISH, lhp, SR, Smithfield-Selma HS. Another North Carolina recruit, Parrish had two projectable pitches and quality command of both. His fastball sat comfortably at 86-89 mph, and he complemented it with a quality 2-to-8 curveball with good late life.
