Buffalo had a horrible night last night, but they might have found themselves a new outfielder. Mike Baxter was signed a few weeks ago and has hit .438 at St. Lucie while getting the kinks out. He played his first game for AAA-Bisons last night and hit a two-run homer (Josh Satin on base after doubling)on his first at bat. The Queens born Baxter is only 26 and easily could be a AAA mainstay in the future.

George Springer:
MLBTradeRumors.com reports that Houston Astros first round pick George Springer met with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League on Saturday. Springer was selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2011 MLB Draft after an outstanding career at UConn where he led the Huskies to an appearance in the Super Regionals. Trevor Bauer:
The Diamondbacks today signed Trevor Bauer, the No. 3 overall pick in the draft, to a four-year major league contract worth a guaranteed $4.45 million. The deal includes a $3.4 million bonus and a potential value of slightly over $7 million. MLB's recommended bonus for the third overall choice is estimated as $3 million. Starting to get the feeling, that the Mets are walking away from the Beltran deal with a player that has a ceiling along the lines of a Kirk Niewenhous. They may have to take a real youngster in order to get a high ceiling. Someone that has a long, long way to go.

Unless they get a top prospecT, i'd hang on to carlos, and go for that unlikely miracle. I know it's crazy, but we have enough second tier prospects. We need impact players and unless thats what we get, id have no problem keeping Beltran. Perhaps if the players know hes staying, they'd be driven to finish strong. Heading into 2012, you cant underestimate a great finish to this season. It will be a great confidence builder for players and fans, something to build apon for next year, and a plus in getting Reyes to resign. No top prospect = No deal
