Allen pitched the 2008 season for the GCL Mets, going 1-1, 2.12, 1.00 in 11 games (5 starts). This included 45 Ks and only 10 BBs in 34.0 IP.
1-1-10: - Forecast: Jeurys Familia and Robert Carson got all the press in Savannah, while Allen quietly put up a season which deserves a promotion. Kepp an eye on this kid in St. Lucie in 2010. He may emerge as the team’s SP1. into the season
11-30-10: - Allen hasn’t had the greatest year of his career, but he did put it together last night against Brevard County. Stats: 6.1-IP, 1-ER, 5-H, but 0-K, 3-BB, and 2-HBP. Allen still remains a long-range prospect; however, his 5.03 A+ ERA won’t cut the mustard for long.
4-15-11 – Stock Up – Okay, it’s only two starts, but Kyle Allen seems to be heading back in the right direction. So far this season: 2-G, 0-0, 1.08, 1.20, 8.1-IP, 7-K, 5-BB. We’re not going to ask for an HOF vote yet, nor are we putting him in the “Big 3” (Harvey, Mejia, Familia) class, but we definitely like what we see.
4-29-11: - What’s more interesting is the fact that Kyle Allen came in for the fifth. We still have nothing official why he was removed from the rotation, and the only unofficial comment told me by somebody was he “sucked” as a starter this year. This isn’t true. He gave up only one earned run in the first two starts and then blew up in the third. Hey, if every Mets starter was removed from the rotation because they blew up once, we’d have no one to write about.

Injuries derailed his 2010 season and he is currently assigned to Port St. Lucie working to regain the form which once earned him placement as one of the Mets top-10 prospects. Since 2009, Allen has averaged just a shade under five walks per nine innings. However, his last start was the best of his young career as Allen tossed eight scoreless innings allowing no walks, no runs and six strikeouts. Additionally, his GO/AO is once again more than 2.0 and his strikeout totals have crept back above 6.5 per nine innings.
