I didn’t like hearing Josh Thole say today that he believes that he has had
four concussions. Do the research. Anything over three is like, serious.
Metstradamus -
Why does Jesus hate Ike Davis?
90 pitchers currently
on the DL. Ninety. Ninety.
Adam Rubin –
I foresee the Mets
payroll remaining pretty static -- maybe only marginally higher next year --
until Bay & Santana off books.
Lucas Duda is having a very difficult time in right field and the BIS video trackers
have not been kind. Duda has been credited with just one GFP and, after his
miscue Monday led to two extra bases on a single that rolled by him, he now has
eight DM&E.
Dave Lennon –
No one likes
closer-by-committee. Not relievers, and especially not manager, because it
makes his job infinitely more difficult
AAA-Buffalo:
We probably have seen the last time
3B Zach Lutz will wear a Met uniform.
Yesterday’s injury takes 3-6 weeks to heal and then another 2-3 months to
strengthen. I can’t see the Mets retaining his services past this season. He’s
had six years in the system and he will play next, exclusively t 3B, at 27.
Look for the Mets to quietly DFA him after he heals.
Vinnie Rottino had his first start this year as catcher. It is game 302 behind the
plate…
SP Jeremy
Hefner dished up a 2-run homer in the first… Gwinnett loaded up for more
in the 6th, chasing Hefner: 5.2-IP, 6-H, 6-ER, 2-K, 2-BB, 2.91.
The Mets future closer, Elvin Ramirez (0.00), got the 6th closed.
Finished with a another 1.0 of run-less ball… IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE ???
AA-Binghamton:
2B Reese
Havens (.167) back in the lineup…
SP Mark
Cohoon gave up a run in both the 3rd and 5th
inning… a balk helped that second run score on a sac fly… Trenton broke it open
with eight more runs in the 8th… Eric
Turgeon (9.53) tried to stop the bleeding but he continues to bleed out
for the season…
For the hell of it, the B-Mets scored
a run in the bottom of the eighth on back-to-back doubles by Matt den Dekker (.294) and Juan
Lagares (.283).
Bad B-Mets.
A+ - St. Lucie: -
SP Chris
Young (0.00) back on the rehab bump… then back in the dugout… game
rained out.
Start #2 for Jacob
deGrom (0.00)… he gave up an unearned run in the 3rd (T J Rivera’s 10th error)… he was done after
six: 2-H, 0-ER, 1-K, 1-BB, still 0.00…
(this is as exciting as what Frank Viola told me, but there is one small caveat
here… deGrom does turn 24 next month, which is a wee bit old for A-ball)
LF Dustin
Lawley (.276) hit his 5th home run of the season in the 4th (hit
a combined 10-HRs for Sav-KPort in 2011), which also broke up a no-hitter.
Can’t we just, like, trade everybody
to Charleston for C Gary Sanchez?
3B Aderlin
Rodriguez (.218) started a rally in the 5th that led to a 2-1
lead…
Lastly, say a few prayers for Joe
D/Metsmerized who is in the hospital following heart surgery
