LAST GAME: The B-Mets matched a season-high with three home runs, including a go-ahead, two-run blast by Jefry Marte in the seventh inning, to defeat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 7-6 Sunday afternoon at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The victory secured Binghamton’s first series win in May and was their third one-run win of the year. Armando Rodriguez earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief. Matt den Dekker and Sean Kazmar each supplied solo home runs in the fifth inning. Robert Carson recorded five outs to collect his first career save.
STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: LHP Mark Cohoon (2-3, 2.06) makes his seventh start of the season. He took his first no-decision of the year in his previous start against the New Britain Rock Cats on May 8. He allowed just one unearned run on four hits and did not walk a batter over six innings in a game the B-Mets would lose by a 4-3 score. The southpaw from Burleson, Texas has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his first six starts. He started last season with the B-Mets, going 1-3 with a 3.81 ERA in nine starts before being promoted to Buffalo (AAA) in late May. In 18 starts with the Bisons, Cohoon went 4-11 and compiled a 6.11 ERA. A 12th-round pick in the June 2008 draft by the Mets, the southpaw is in his fifth season of pro baseball. It’s his third year with the B-Mets.
RHP Shaeffer Hall (2-4, 4.17) takes the ball for his team-leading eighth start of the season. The southpaw is currently on a three-game losing streak, having not won since April 16. He lost his previous game against the Reading Phillies on May 9, allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits over seven hitting. It matched his longest performance of the season, done twice before in 2012. Selected in the 25th round of the 2009 draft out of the University of Kansas, Hall is in his fourth year of pro ball and second with the Thunder. The Missouri native made 24 starts with Trenton last year, going 10-8 with a 4.12 ERA. He made one appearance with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, earning a win.
