Mets Minor League Report – June 20

Las Vegas (38-34) defeated Tucson (38-36) 7-5
Starter Rafael Montero allowed 3 ER, 8 H, 2 BB, 7 K in 5.0 innings.
He was followed by Jack Leathersich: 1 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 BB, with 1 K in 1.0 IP.

Robert Carson actually earned the save (1st) 
Brian Bixler: 2-4, 2B, BB, RBI, R.
Ike Davis: hittingstart of the night:: Two home runs, 3-5, 3-R, .306
Binghamton (44-27) trims Richmond (35-35) 4-3.
Starter Darin Gorski (W, 3-2) got the win, going 6.0 innings: 3 R, 1 ER, 5 H, BB, 8 K.
Three B-Mets relievers combined to hold the Flying Squirrels scoreless and hitless over the remaining 3 innings: Jim Fuller, (1.1 IP, BB, 2 K) John Church, (0.2 IP, K) and Jeff Walters, (S, 17) (BB, K) who recorded his Eastern League leading 17th save.
Alonzo Harris: 2-4, 2B, R, 2 SB.  Harris’ 16 SB’s places him, along with teammates Cesar Puello and Darrell Ceciliani among the top 5 in the Eastern League in SB’s.
Josh Rodriguez: 2-4, 2B, BB, R.

St Lucie (38-30) tops Palm Beach (29-40) 8-6.
Starter Domingo Tapia was rocked for 6 ER, 11 H, 2 BB, with 6 K in 5.1 IP.
Tapia was picked up by relievers Randy Fontanez, (W, 5-5) (1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, K) Bret Mitchell, (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, K) and Hamilton Bennett, (S, 5) (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, K) who combined to hold the Cardinals scoreless the rest of the way.
In their first High-A game after their promotion to St. Lucie, Kevin Plawecki went 2-5, HR, 4 RBI, R and Jayce Boyd went 2-5, RBI.
Matt Den Dekker: 2-4, BB, 2 R.
Dustin Lawley: 1-5, 2 RBI, 2 R.

Savannah (1-0) beat Lexington (0-1) 5-1.
The Savannah Sand Gnats, with the best record in the SAL, took 1st place in the Southern Division for the 1st half of the season. W-L records are now reset to begin the 2nd half.
Starter, Logan Taylor (W, 1-1) looked sharp getting the win: 6.0 IP, R, 3 H, 2 BB, 9 K.
Hunter Carnivale: 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 3 K.
Beck Wheeler pitched a perfect 9th inning with 1 K, to finish the game.
Stefan Sabol: 2-5, 3B, 2 RBI, R.

Brooklyn (1-2) shuts out Aberdeen (0-4) 3-0.
Starter, John Gant: (W, 1-0) 5.0 IP: 3 H, 2 BB, 6 K.
Relievers, Tim Peterson 2.2 IP: 3 H, 0 BB, 3 K, and John Mincone, (S, 1) 1.1 IP, 2 H. K, finished up the shutout.

L.J. Mazilli: 1-3, BB.
Jared King: 1-3, 2B, BB, RBI, 2 R.

Johnson City (1-0) routs Kingsport (0-1) 9-3.
Pitching was not a strength for Kingsport tonight, as starter Martirez Arias (L, 0-1) was tagged for 5 R, 3 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, K in 1.2 innings of work.
Jeffrey Diehl: 3-5, 2B, RBI.
Michael Bernal: 2-5, 2 2B.

DSL Mets1 (7-9) trounce DSL Orioles2 (8-9) 8-1.
Starter Jose Mendez (W, 1-1) pitched 5 shutout innings: 6 H, 0 BB, 3 K.

DSL Mets2 (10-7) fall to DSL Angels (10-7) 7-5.
Starter Randi Montero was strafed: 2.2 IP, 5 ER, 4 H, 4 BB, 3 K.
The Mets 4th pitcher of the day, Jesus Lugo, (L, 0-1) 0.2 IP, 2 ER, H, 3 BB, K, got the loss.
