Eric Jagielo is the starting third baseman for Notre Dame (33-23); however, what intrigues me is the fact that he also plays outfield for that team. He could easily still be on the baord when the Mets third pick comes around, giving them another bat option that could be moved fast through the system.
In 2013, his regular season stats are: .395/.506/.649, 9-HR, 51-RBI
Listed at 6-foot-3 and 215 lbs., Jagielo fits the Yankees mold of power and patience from the left side of the plate. He has power to all fields but does the most damage when he pulls the ball to right field, and he’s able to tap into that power because he has a plan at the plate and command of the strike zone. There is some concern about his ability to hit at the upper levels of pro ball because he has a loopy swing and can be beat with good fastballs up in the zone. http://riveraveblues.com/2013/04/2013-draft-eric-jagielo-85873/

Scouting Report:
- Bat speed and power stand out
- Quick, smooth swing
- Plus raw power
- Solid approach at the plate
- Has played 1B, 3B, LF, and CF at Notre Dame
- May profile best to a corner outfield spot
- Above average arm - http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2012/11/14/2013-mlb-draft-profile-eric-jagielo/
Eric Jagielo is a third baseman right now, but he could end up shifting to first base or a corner outfield spot in the pros because he doesn't have the softest hands or the most accurate throwing arm. Regardless, what Jagielo does really well is hit. He controls the strike zone well, thanks to good pitch recognition, solid hand-eye coordination and plus bat speed. He also projects to hit for plus power. Even if he has to move to the outfield, Jagielo's bat fits the profile. He may not have ideal power for the position, but he can hit for average and provide 20 home runs. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1600761-ranking-the-10-fastest-rising-2013-mlb-draft-prospects/page/7
