Trade While We Were Asleep!

The New York Mets have traded SP Collin McHugh to the Colorado Rockies for OF Eric Young Jr. McHugh, who was recently designated for assignment, was mostly ineffective for the Mets this year posting an ERA of 10.29 in 1 start and 2 relief appearances.

Young Jr. this season has been struggling with only a .242 Avg in 165 ABs. He will bring a hugely missed speed element to the team as he has a 162 Game average of 36 SB. He's a guy who can play all 3 OF positions but with Duda now at 1B look for him to get some time in CF with newly promoted Andrew Brown in LF and Marlon Bryd in RF.

(I absolutely LOVE this trade. The Mets OF is thin, the organization has a ton of SP depth in the minors, the AAA team rotation is starting to get crowded with promotions (Jacob DeGrom just got promoted to AAA), and quiet frankly Collin McHugh just didn't prove he could stick on this team. On the flip side, Eric Young Jr. is no slouch people. He batted .316 in part time duty last season and stole 27 bases when he was getting consistent playing time in 2011. His career BB rate (8.3%) is ok at best but his K rate (17%) is average for the league and is MUCH better than other Mets players.)

Good Move Sandy......Good Move.
