John Sickel's Top 20 Brewers Prospects List

http://www.minorleagueball.com/2011/1/6/1919882/milwaukee-brewers-top-20-prospects-for-2011

This list is a bit dated, but a good list if you are looking for who the Mets might cherry pick from the Krod trade.

Who would you like to see the Mets receive?

The Brewers' minor league system was gutted in the Zach Grienke trade and is now considered the least talented organization in baseball.

Figures.

I'm going to look deeper into this today and post my thoughts, but, off the top, I'll take their top catching prospect, Tyler Roberts

Like catchers too, but crystal ball says:

Khris Davis (OF-FSL) and Robt Wooten (RHP-SOU)

[Then Hector Sanchez (C) and Eric Surkamp (LHP) from SF for Carlos]

There's always someone. Remember, the Mets had a crappy system too, and it had just helped produce a winning record in the first half. I'm sure Depodesta and company had done their homework scouting these guys, and the biggest issue has been dealt with: the vesting option. This is a good move.

The list is only 5 players, none from the 2011 draft.

The Mets will not have to pick them until September.

The Mets also sent $5mil to the Brewers, but all of that counts as 2011 salary... thus, the savings in 2012 will be $12,166,666.00

Add that number to what jose makes now & I doubt he'll pass on making over twenty million a year, especially since he wants to stay. Boy, i'll tell you, I would have never guessed that Reyes would ever make so much more then David Wright, but I believe he will, and I don't think Wright is ever going to touch Reyes' contract numbers.

Don't forget that it wasn't just the Greinke deal- the Marcum from Toronto deal was the 2nd culprit for wiping the top prospects from their system clean. I like the deal on a lot of levels...
