B-Mets Pre-Game Notes

LAST GAME: The B-Mets salvaged their series against the Al-toona Curve with a 3-0 win last night at Blair County Ballpark. It was their fifth shutout win of the year and Matt Harvey’s first victory at the Double-A level. The right-hander allowed just three singles and struck out four over five innings of work. Bingham-ton made him a winner with three runs in the sixth inning on five straight hits against reliever Tim Alderson, who was sad-dled with his third loss. Eric Campbell supplied an RBI double and Kai Gronauer added a two-run single. Ricky Brooks made the lead stand by retiring all nine he faced and Josh Stinson earned his first save of the year with a scoreless ninth.



STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Brandon Moore makes his team-leading 21st start of the year and second against the R-Phils. Moore is on a three-game winning streak, but took a no-decision in his most recent start against the Harrisburg Sena-tors on July 29. He matched a season-high by allowing nine hits over five innings in a game the B-Mets would win 8-7. Moore defeated Reading with six shutout innings and six strike outs on July 24.


RHP J.C. Ramirez will also make his 21st start of the season and second against the B-Mets. Ramirez suffered a complete-game loss in his most recent start against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on July 30. The righty allowed four runs on seven hits over six innings in game one of a doubleheader. Ramirez matched up against Moore and the B-Mets on July 24 and took the loss. He has factored into the decision in all but one of his starts (5/28 @ ERI). He was traded from the Mariners to the Phillies along with RHP Phillippe Aumont and OF Tyson Gillies in exchange for LHP Cliff Lee on 12/16/09.


THE FIRST ―W‖: B-Mets starter Matt Harvey tossed five shutout innings and earned his first Double-A win last night. It was the righty’s first victory since he defeated the Jupiter Hammer-heads on June 13 as a member of the St. Lucie Mets (High-A).


NINE UP, NINE DOWN: Ricky Brooks picked up his seventh hold of the year by retiring all nine he faced last night. Since return-ing from the DL (right shoulder strain) on 7/16, Brooks has allowed just seven hits over nine and two-thirds shutout in-nings. He has made seven straight scoreless appearances.


BOUNCE BACK OUTING: After allowing three runs on four hits in a blown save on Wednesday night, B-Mets reliever Josh Stinson tossed a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his first save of the year last night. Stinson’s last save came against the New Brit-ain Rock Cats on May 22, 2010. It was Stinson’s only save last season.
