The Keepers:- #28 - P - Chase Huchingson

28. SP Chase Huchingson

Huchingson was never drafted and signed with the Mets as a free agent in 2010. There was some question whether he was signed as a pitcher or an outfielder, and there were other questions why he was signed aat all. He batted .236 and his ERA was 8.36 so you tell me.

After signing, he pitched for K-Port: 0-1, 4.09, 5-appearances, 2-starts. Positive sign was 13-Ks in 11.0-IP.

5-23-11: - The Savannah Sand Gnats are still featuring a piggyback this late into the season. Chase Huchingson and Erik Goeddel have had their time split with Goeddel getting the ass end of the piggy. It’s obvious the team is juggling six starters, though Ryan Fraser is starting to show numbers going in the wrong direction. In my opinion, it’s time to stop screwing around here and the Gnats should start stretching out both Goeddel and Huchingson.

6-4-11: - Savannah’s SP Chase Hutchington put together his third quality start in a row Friday night, going 5.0-IP, striking out seven, and giving up 0-R, and only 1-H. That’s 1-ER, in his last 15.0-IP, with 20-K. Seasonally, 56 K, 46.1-IP, 15-BB, 37-H. For some reason, he has only pitched five innings in each of his last four starts, ad only went six innings on 4-28. Hopefully, he will stretch past this soon.

6. Chase Huchingson – SP/RP – A/Savannah: - 5-2, 1.91, 1.06, 16-G, 71-K, 61.1-IP,19-BB – He started as a starter (1.80), but now comes out of the pen (2.01). Frankly, his K/IP ratio is way down as a reliever, but he’s still averaging over one per inning pitched.
