Another good step.
If unable to get Realmuto reasonably, then committing only 2 years allows the team to be open for better options as the year(s) progress

Well, the oft-injured Ramos can certainly swing the bat, though his defensive skills will leave some wanting. I wouldn't be surprised to see them clean house entirely, moving both Kevin Plawecki and Travis d'Arnaud in minor deals, then ink a defensive specialist like Caleb Joseph as Ramos' backup. While d'Arnaud theoretically could play backup at 3B and Plawecki at 1st, as long as Todd Frazier is on the roster there's no need for that. You also have Jeff McNeil and eventually TJ Rivera.

The deal itself it smart -- only takes money, modest Frazier type money at that. No draft picks, no minor leaguers and no Thor.

Not the worse deal... now use the 2nd round draft pick wisely as I probably would have preferred grandal as a player but I’d we do draft someone with the potential of Woods-Richardson then I think this is very smart

Ramos' defensive stats are above league average + hits .270+.

Yes, he's a catcher with a history of injuries.

Name one that hasn't.

Ok, time to move on to Harper. Let Nimmo and Conforto cover centerfield .

Very happy with the move. Given the cost of Realmuto and Grandal, this upgrades the position offensively and defensively while preservng prospects and money for more improvements. With the addition of Cano and Ramos, the lineup is much stronger, and the defense is improved.

Boy would Pollock, Miller, and Gio Gonzalez round out that 25 man roster.

NICE!

When you compare Realmuto, Ramos and Grandal, I think they are ranked as I have listed them (total package).

But, when you consider the cost to get each one, Ramos is the best deal of the three and I am thankful that BVW
saw things the same way.

Fair deal.......if you pick up the third year option, it is a three year deal for 26 million dollars. I think they have to cut TDA
at this point, so you save the cash his tender would have otherwise cost (four or five million, I think). KPlaw can be a solid #2
right?

I like this! Its only a 2 year deal. At least offensively its definitely a step up. Now go sign degrom and Syndergaard to extensions.

I wanted Realmuto, with an extension, but clearly the Marlins were asking for the moon. I knew they wouldn’t spend the money and years that Grandal is going to get, so this was almost certainly the best option - at least of those three. Not expecting much more spending. Maybe an OF if they move Lagares’ contract. A smart team (with a top half of the league budget) would
Sign an OF and keep Lagares, since that would only be 4 big league OF on the roster, but not sure they’ll spend even that much more.

McNeil is expected to play some OF too, and Smith might (if he's even on the 25), but I still think they should keep Lag. I don't get why so many people are down on him.
