OPEN THREAD - Top 5 Mets Untouchables
Kyle Newman over at Metsmerised gave me a good idea for a question to ask the writers and readers here.
You wake up tomorrow.
You are the Mets GM.
Who are the top 5 'untouchable' prospects you have in the chain that are not available for trade discussions?

Mauricio,Alvarez,Baty,Allan,Wolf
I would have to learn more about the health of the younger pitchers, but a case could be made for the still-recovering Thomas Szapucki as well.
After depleting the prospect pool a bit over the last year or so, BVW should strongly resist the urge to deal any of our prospects
in the short term.
But, since that is a boring answer, IF I had a chance to obtain a player at a position of need (like CF), I could be talked into
Gimenez. Only because he is ready to go and is blocked at the MLB level......that, and we have depth there.
The rest of your top ten list(s) would be off limits for me and yes, that is more then five!
I would also include Jake Mangum as we need a Center Fielder and others in Brooklyn like Wilmer Reyes.
Besides Kelenic, Kay, Dunn, and Richardson, of course, since they all went from untouchable to traded, I would also say Alvarez, Mauricio, Allen, Wolf, and Baty.
I do hear, though, that Szapucki wants to break Spahn’s lefty win record. His breakout year in 2020 is coming right up.
Thomas -
You have to get past the same Kelenic Kay etc. rant...
I agree with unknown on the answer of this question.
I would have to say Alvarez, Szapucki, Kilome, Mauricio, and Allan. Szapucki and Kilome are on my list because they are the starting pitching depth for 2020.
Untouchable definition to me: a player who is off limits to other teams because their current major league value is so superior (Alonso) or an athlete of such high and unquestioned future excellence that it would be unthinkable to trade hi.
Wilmer Reyes and Jake Mangum don’t fit that definition, and the Mets would happily include either in a trade if need be.
Alvarez, Baty, Allan, Maurico, Szapucki. I would put Alvarez at the top of my list. He was crushing at age 17 at a premium position. Baty gets a lot of talk but Alvarez is 2 years younger and outperforming him. Not that I have any idea of what I'm talking about in terms of evaluating players. The fact is the Mets do need a pipeline. Their core performers arent going to stay cheap forever and they will need to rotate in some new talent unless they plan on locking some guys down cheap or blowing past luxury tax thresholds. In the next 2 years they have to replace or extend Matz, Syndergaard, Wheeler and Stroman...this will be no cheap feat if they want to contend..
Keleneic
Oh wait BVW doesn’t know what a untouchable looks like... wasn’t he a star agent ? Yes I am still bitter
