Neil Diamond sings that song the whole world knows:
SWEET CAROLINE.
But a better Neil Diamond tune for the Mets is:
SEPTEMBER MOURN.
They played until they faded far away.
Most of the time, for Mets fans:
September is a time for mourning.
The usual Mets experts gather at the crime scene.
Trying to figure out what happened.
Arrests will be made.
No bail will be required, tho'...
And many will be quickly released.
Their mayhem will be inflicted on other teams next year.
Or, more likely, they will rebound to have good years.
At least that is what TDA must be thinking.
Meanwhile, 16 other teams will play on.
Not the Mets.
Almost never the Mets.
September Mourn.
The Mets still make me feel that way.
Marlins in, Mets out. How flabbergasting is that?
My brother wonders if I can do a parody of a song.
Entitling the new song METS SUCK?
I told him I'd see what I could do.
Once I am over my mourning period.
Neil Diamond hears LP and he thinks "album."
Mets fans hear LP and hear Losing Pitcher.

I found myself mourning in the evening, 'cause the Metsies after Sunday gonna be leavin'.
You just can't ignore good young pitching depth, defense, speed and fundamentals. The Marlins, despite the sell offs of the past few years understood this. The Brodie Mets did not.
I stated here at times that the Marlins would probably make the playoffs before the Mets but did not think it would happen this year.
You want this to change? Then you have ti follow the model that Edgardo Alfonzo used last year in Brooklyn. Defense, Speed, and fundamentals.
Use the shift against the analytical obsessed teams. Hit against the shift. Take extra bases when players don't cover bases. Bunt. Manufacture runs. Get them on, get them over, get them in.
How many outs got turned into doubles or inside the park home runs with Nimmo in Center or Dom/JD Davis in LF.
Stop playing players out if position for the first time in the majors. Don't ignore what happens in the minors based on potential.
Rosario had poor fielding stats in minors - and you think this would change in the majors?
Cano can still hit but his range and legs get older everyday. You want him as part of your up the middle defense?
Nimmo was not a great fielding outfielder in the minors, so we rely on him in CF in the majors?
Defense and lack of getting runners in with less than two outs killed the Mets all year like it has before. Until the Mets learn that lesson there will be plenty more September Mourns.
Fonzie showed us the way last Summer and was fired.
Enjoy the post season.
Post season?
Is there a post season in this game anymore?
Not for the Mets. Ignore the laws of physics - you crash. Ignore tge laws of baseball - you lose.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, the good times come around no more.
All of what you guys said was true. The real crusher for this team, though? Wacha, Porcell, and Matz somehow, for a team averaging 5 runs a game, to go a combined 2-16. Worst I would have guessed was 6-12.
Even worse, Thor, Stroman, Matz, Porcello and Wacha combined to go 2-16. Imagine telling anyone in January that would happen?
Good defense helps mediocre pitching. Bad defense exposes it. Power hitters tend to have peaks and valleys. In a 162 game season, things even out. In a short series and short season, a slump can turn into a drought.
