METS ANNOUNCE SPRING TRAINING INVITES
FLUSHING, N.Y., February 13, 2021 – The New York Mets today announced that the club has invited the following 28 players to major league spring training as non-roster invitees:

Catchers (4): Francisco Álvarez, Bruce Maxwell, Nick Meyer, David Rodríguez
Infielders (7): Brett Baty, Brandon Drury, Jake Hager, Ronny Mauricio, José Peraza, Wilfredo Tovar, Mark Vientos

Tylor Megill and Tim Tebow both invited? I am in Joyville, baby. 2021 will be different now - I just know it :)
I am sure K-Lee will be added as well.
Thought there might be more catchers. Last I looked there was 6 on the Binghamton roster.
K-Lee is on the 40 man, so he is automatic, correct?
I also was surprised that there weren't a couple other catchers - Regnault, especially.
And Dibrell was the other one that seems to be left off
69 - you are correct. Forgot K-Lee was on the 40 man.

Is there a limit to the number of non-roster invitees that can come? If so, are we at that limit, or can others be added?
Bill, don't take this as gospel, but I think I read where each team was allowed to have 75 players in camp with the COVID rules, so that would tell me the 40 man + 35 more? Not sure if they are 7 short or what the deal is.
1969 - You nailed it. They had that in the NY Post today: "Teams are limited to 75 roster spots this spring because of COVID protocols". I think most years there are less invitees to most camps but as the minor league camps would open at the same time those years, it was easy to bring in extra guys. This year, with the minor league camps delayed, it is different.
With that much room, Tebow is not "blocking" anyone, yet it seems like many fans are over-reacting to his being invited.
I definitely don't think he has a chance to make it to the OD roster, but I don't see any harm in letting him participate.
One thing is clear, the people in Binghamton and Syracuse love him. He is a big reason they come to the games.
Tebow has had bad luck. In 2018, in AA, he hit over .300 for a 4 week stretch, then broke the hamate bone, finishing him off that year. The next season, he had lost those few extra months of AA development and had injuries. He never got untracked. I think he deserves a chance, in an organization that is still outfield thin after getting Mallex Smith and Khalil Lee.
Yea, unfortunately over .300 for a four week stretch in AA does not necessarily make a major league player.
I saw him play in Binghamton and the guy looked lost in left field. He was not a good baseball player and at 33, I cannot see him getting better.
I suppose they'll keep him in either Syracuse or Binghamton this year and Sandy will give him the obligatory cup of coffee in September just to say he did it.
