NY Mets win over Atlanta
What a terrific all out effort by an injury plagued NY Mets team. Unbelievable. Everyone showed up and contributed. It was a gorgeous team victory, old school style. And I so proud of these guys.
Tomas Nido
Leads the active players in batting average now and is turning into a game changer type of player. The blast. What a swing. Boom and gone. I am so impressed by Tomas. What a wonderful thing to have him here with McCann behind the Mets dish. Same with Patrick Mazeika.
Jeurys Familia
When I saw Jeurys come into camp this year all slimmed down to his rookie weight, I thought now there's a guy that not only gets it, but still wants it, and he did it because he wants to contribute bigtime here. And he is going after it. Hats off to Jeurys Familia. 2.63 ERA, 15 strikeouts in 13 innings! He's baaaaaaaaaaack!
Edwin Diaz
Save seven. This guy makes me smile, I am so proud of him. One more save now than the entire abbreviated 2020 season. What a turnaround story Edwin is and we all watched this happen for him. Unstoppably good. He's on pace for a terrific season.
Francisco Lindor
Two hits, one a double. Warning: Francisco Is Alive MLB! The peapod has been replaced with the actual guy. And ain't it great too! Welcome to NY Francisco!
Tommy Hunter
What's with this Superman? Four strikeouts in two innings and a 0.00 ERA? Plus, with yesterday's hit he is batting 1.00. Great addition here!
Jonathan Villar
Leading off, smacks a two run homerun. Jonathan is becoming the very definition of being a truly impactful versatile MLB player. Plays multiple positions well, can hit, can hit homeruns. Kind of reminds me in talent to Kevin Mitchell, less the luggage Kevin carried.
A complete team victory.
Guys I didn't even know were on the current Mets roster contributed, like Jose Peraza and Johneshwy Fargas. Welcome to the Mets!
What I am saying here is simply this, these types of Mets wins are the stuff that Championship teams are made of. It's in them, each one.
You Gotta' Believe!
The "Flash Players" Traded Away
Some whining. Some complaints. Some tears in beer. But right now Jarred Kelenic is batting .160 leading off on Seattle with a .192 OBP . Yes, he hit a pretty homerun his first time up, but that's been it really so far. His adjustments have begun in MLB.
Justin Dunn has been less than what everyone was saying here while coming up through the Mets' minor league system. He may turn into a really good three or four starter in MLB, but it isn't a given yet. He's 1-2 in his starts thus far, but I hope that he does well.
The age old adage applies of "Be careful for what you wish for" really does apply to younger players. No one can predict their careers out. Not even Cosmo Kramer, I don't think. Jerry had Cosmo stretching his arm out in his backyard, just in case for here.
The Mets have Edwin Diaz here. They have Pete Crowe-Armstrong (age 19), who was batting .417 down in St. Lucie before going on the IR and getting a shoulder operated on at current. They have well over half dozen of really promising young players throughout their minor league. Can't miss guys in other words.
So never cry over spilt milk, because a new full glass is almost always right around the corner. You'll see. But man, this 2021 NY Mets team is really something amazing!
Tons of "anonymous" positivity - sweet!
Seattle was no hit - so I guess Kelenic went hitless? There goes his 1,000 game hitting streak.
Edwin is the Man, the Hombre, the Bullpen Head Honcho.
Familia's success is partly due to conditioning, but also due to adding that high riding 4 seamer. Hitters are confused - and that's good.
