After Tuesday's Syracuse Mets game, Chad Kreuter held a zoom call with reporters.
Here are some highlights:
About J.D. Davis – after getting two at-bats he wanted to play another inning of defense. Will get early work tomorrow before the game.
Cameron Maybin – After COVID intake process he should be added to the roster and playing like everyone else.
The injuries – frustrating, hard to build continuity, typically pitchers are sent to parent club, but position players are going as well. If we help them win, we’ve done our job.
Tomorrow will be a bullpen game for Syracuse. Chad Kreuter did not mention any specific names but said that he expected a pitcher to be called up to the Major League Mets tomorrow. Thomas Szapucki was originally scheduled to pitch tomorrow for Syracuse.
Mallex Smith – Originally on the Taxi squad, he broke his foot
on a foul ball in Brooklyn at the alternate site. Out 6 weeks.
Franklyn Kilome – Pitched 3 strong innings then gave up
single runs in the 4th and 5th. He did battle. He was able to get key outs with his fastball
up in the zone. He is getting quicker
with runners on base. Has improved to “1.2” to plate.
Stephen Tarpley – being monitored. They are making sure his shoulder is healthy. Hope to see him this week.
