Noah Syndergaard’s big league debut, the Mets first ever double header sweep and Carlos Beltran hits 3 HR’s in Colorado.

Bartolo’s first game after his HR game did not go as well as he gave up 4 runs in the first and another in the second.  Yasmani Grandal’s 1st inning HR the big blow.  Clayton Kershaw the complete game 3 hit shutout for the Dodgers.

Baseball Reference: 2011 - Carlos Beltran belts 3 homers and drives in 6 runs as the Mets beat the Rockies, 9 - 5, after a two-hour rain delay. Beltran homers from both sides of the plate and to all three fields in his power display. Ubaldo Jimenez, who set a Rockies season-record for wins in 2010, falls to 0-3.

Jose Lima’s second Met game started out pretty well as he led the Brewers 3-1 after 4 but it all fall apart in the 5th when Geoff Jenkins hit a bases loaded double that cleared the bases as part of a 6 run inning.

Both teams had 10 hits but the Giants strung them together to score 10 runs.  Tsuyoshi Shinjo went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs for the Mets.

Howard Johnson went 2 for 4 and drove in 2 runs but it took 11 innings to break the 2-2 tie when Dave Magadan and Chris Donnels each had an RBI single.

A 6th inning 3 run HR by Met Killer Doug Rader off Tom Seaver was the big blow as the Astros built a 4-0 lead.  Mets tried to come back with 2 runs in the 7th and 2 more in the 8th but fell short.

The victories account for the first doubleheader sweep in franchise history, and mark the first time a major league team has accomplished the feat with two walk-off homers, thanks to the ninth-inning heroics of Hobie Landrith in the first game and Gil Hodges in the second.

The second is a two-run shot off closer Francisco Rodriguez in the 9th inning and comes moments after Bernadina makes a diving game-saving catch to rob Jeff Francoeur with the bases loaded. Nats starter Craig Stammen contributes the other 3 RBI but does not figure in the decision; instead, reliever Tyler Clippard picks up his major-league leading 7th win, followed by Matt Capps's 14th save, which is also a major league high so far this season.
