43 Nate Savino LHP Virginia
Previously a heralded prep arm in the 2020 class, Savino graduated early and enrolled at Virginia, making four appearances for the Cavaliers. A very projectable lefty, the velocity on the fastball sat 89-92 MPH at fall workouts, with reports indicating he's touched 94-95 MPH in side sessions. He possesses a curveball that has sat in the high-70's with big breaking action and there's a change-up near 80 MPH that has become a solid offering.

Nate Savino, LHP, Virginia
Savino was a heavily scouted prep pitcher, who easily could’ve opted to turn pro early on, but decided to attend Virginia instead. He throws a mid-90s fastball with some exploding sink action that I can’t stop watching in his scouting videos. His slider is strong and seems to be his punch out pitch more times than not.

Nate Savino, LHP, Virginia
Savino was a highly talented prep pitcher but opted to go to Virginia instead. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound lefty throws a mid-90s fastball with run and sinking action and a solid slider that serves as his outpitch. Savino needs to do a better job of dominating opposing batters to cement himself as a top 2022 MLB draft prospect as a junior.

Savino's velocity climbed from the 89-93 range in 2018 games, up to the 91-94 range, touching 96 early in the summer of 2019. He also has an above-average, two-plane breaking ball in the upper-70s. His arm action is long and, overall, the delivery is atypical. He was ticketed for the middle of the first round when, in November of 2019, he announced plans to early enroll in Virginia in lieu of playing his high school senior year. This move has happened some recently, with current Diamondbacks RHP J.B. Bukauskas (Virginia HS, North Carolina) doing so en route to being a first round pick and 2021 first round center field prospect Jud Fabian going to Florida early from a Florida HS. Virginia also has a history of getting top prep arms on campus, with Mike Vasil the most recent example.

Widely regarded as the 2020 draft’s top prep left-handed pitcher, Savino pulled a Mike Vasil and early enrolled into UVA. His ‘20 spring didn’t reach Connor Prielipp or Hunter Barco’s levels of dominance, but the stuff was predominantly great throughout all of his four freshman outings. Savino’s numbers aren’t public because of UVA doing UVA things, but he’s likely a prototypical sinkerballer – to a lesser degree then Barco – with a somewhat flat vertical approach angle and elite characteristics on a sweeping breaker. He’s massive, and the body is traditional for a top-of-the-line starter. He’ll be young for the class (20-years-old) and likely to battle Prielipp and Barco for the top southpaw spot in the 2021 class.
