The regular season is done (and so are the Mets & Yanks), so it is officially "Hot Stove" season in New York. This is our daily open thread to discuss the many possibilities in the Mets' first off-season headed by a President Of Baseball Operations (POBO). There are many intriguing story lines and rumors already spinning around in the media, so this is your opportunity to weigh in with your thoughts.
Today's topic: The gold glove finalists were announced last Wednesday. Only Francisco Lindor was the only nominee from the Mets. Should Jeff McNeil have been overlooked?

I happen to think Lindor only deserves this this season
I wish they also had an award for most improved defensively by position
Alvarez would deserve that
No, if McNeil just played 2nd, maybe
I agree that Lindor was deserving.
McNeill should have at least been mentioned in the finalists, because he embodied what a utility player should be - someone that can perform capably at numerous positions to add flexibility to a team. He would not have won because statistically he was well below the others in OAA and DRS. Betts clearly deserved the award this year for utility. However, someone like Ha-Seong Kim that played a majority of his games at 2B and only a fraction filling in at SS or 3B is not what I would call a utility player.
Nimmo started the season like a candidate, but fell short ending the season with only 1 OAA. No one else was close. Alvarez started strong, showing his defensive improvement, but was too impulsive throwing to the bases and ended up 13 errors behind the plate.
Mack,
Alvarez's defensive improvement was noticeable throughout the year. Let's hope Parada can do the same. That would give us a solid catching duo.
Parada needs as much help defensively as Alvarez did/does
