Nails:
A woman who briefly worked for Lenny Dykstra charges that the former baseball star groped her breasts and tried to push her down on a bed in his Los Angeles mansion after the ex-athlete solicited a “&#*@,” according to a federal court filing. — The Smoking Gun - link
Reassignments:
.Mike Nickeas, Kai Gronauer and Francisco Pena were assigned ot the minor lague camp.
Escobar:
Kelvim Escobar (shoulder) is at peace with the possibility of retirement.
"I’m a very proud man," said Escobar, who has been grounded in camp due to shoulder soreness. "I’ve had a decent career. Whatever happens, I’ll be happy." Escobar's biggest regret is that he took a four-week break after winter ball in Venezuela. He's still attempting to strengthen the shoulder, but will have an MRI in two weeks if the pain lingers. He hasn't ruled out surgery if it can prolong his career
Mejia in Pen:
Jennry Mejia will stay with the Mets through the end of big league camp to determine whether he can make the team as a reliever. Mejia has worked 5 1/3 scoreless innings this spring and Mets manager Jerry Manuel would like to see if he is capable of being a bridge to Francisco Rodriguez. He'll continue to pitch in "short and frequent relief spurts" to see how how his arm reacts to the regular work. If the Mets move forward with their plan and Mejia doesn't make the team, the 20-year-old won't be properly stretched out to start the season in the Double-A Binghamton rotation. - link
Mike O'Connor:
the Mets have signed Mike O'Connor to a minor league deal. O'Connor was once a top prospect in the Nationals organization before being traded to the Pads in 2009 to make room on the roster but he didn't make it the entire season, first heading to the independent leagues before landing in Kansas City.
In 2006 as a 25 y/o left hander with his first exposure to the majors with the Nats he made 20 starts going 3-8 with a 4.80 ERA. He returned to the majors in 2008 for one start ( 4 relief app.) in which he produced a 13.00 ERA. - link
