Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "2011 DRAFT Profile: - OF - Jackie Bradley Jr.": - Do you know anything about junior Adrian Williams, an outstanding shortstop at UCLA, who has been purposely kept under the radar? He was put in at the very end of the first and last games of the 2010 CWS?
Thanks for the question about the draft. We need more draft questions here.
Currently, I have nothing on Williams, which means that nothing has been written about him by any of the draft writers I follow online. This also usually means he did not play in any of the major off-season programs out there.
I get a lot of mail from anonymous posters about kids that aren't being written about. Most of the times, they tend to be friends and relatives of players that aren't getting the prospect press.
Now, in the case of Williams, he is entering his senior year and he has only played two starts for UCLA at shortstop.
Overall, he has played in 32 games and has hit .258. This is not the kind of batting average we usually are writing about when we talk about draft prospects.
"Under the radar" is when a coach doesn't enter his player in off-season programs so he's not over exposed.
"Under the radar" is NOT sitting him on the bench for most of his college career...
On a positive note, he did go 2-4 on April 12, 2010, against UC Riverside, while playing shortstop for the Bruins.
We'll keep an eye out for his progress this coming year.
