10-11-10 from: - http://www.thecollegebaseballblog.com/2010/10/11/top-100-countdown-number-94-jacob-tanis-mercer/#more-30299 - 3B - Tanis had a breakout season as a freshman as he appeared in 43 games (42 starts) while hitting .340 with 11 homers and 35 RBI. He was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman team while also picking up All-American honors from Louisville Slugger. He had an even better season as a sophomore as he hit .388 (second on the team) with a team high totals of 22 homers and 88 RBI. He appeared among the NCAA leaders as he finished 40th in the nation in runs scored (69), 10th in hits (104), tied for 19th in doubles (25), 12th in home runs (22), second in RBI (88), 31st in slugging percentage (.735) and third in total bases (197). He was selected in the 26th round by the Colorado Rockies but decided to head back to Mercer for his junior season
Sherman Johnson:
10-9-10 from: - hlink - Johnson had a breakout season in 2010 as he started all 68 games as he finished second on the team with a .337 average while hitting 10 homers and driving in 58 runs as the everyday third baseman. He was also solid on the bases as he stole seven bases in ten attempts. He did struggle with his defense as he made 10 errors over at the hot corner. He returned to the Valley League in the summer of 2010 as he appeared in 22 games with a .267 batting average while stealing seven bases in nine attempts.
Andy Mee:
10-8-10 from: - link - He spent his first two seasons of intercollegiate baseball at Sante Fe College where he was named the team MVP in both seasons. In 2009, he helped lead the team to the Florida State championship and a runner-up finish in the junior college national tournament. For his career, Mee is the SFC record holder for doubles (35), at bats (402), hits (169), is tied for first in career RBI (106) with teammate Trace Venegas and Matt Armstrong (2001-02) and is second in runs scored (99) behind teammate Tyler Cook (113). Andy decided to transfer to Florida Atlantic to continue his college baseball career and did not disappoint in 2010. He led the Florida Atlantic squad in hitting with a .378 average with eight homers and 55 RBI starting all 61 games on the year. He also saw time on the mound serving as the team’s closer as he went 1-2 with nine saves and an ERA of 2.96. He struck out 22 batters in 24.2 innings of work. He was named second team All-American by the NCBWA for his performance
Francisco Linder:
10-7-10 from: - http://www.prospectwire.com/pw/article.php?id=153 - In this year’s class, #1 Francisco Lindor (Montverde HS, FL) stands out as having the smoothest defensive actions in recent memory. Though his 60 yard-dash times have hovered around average, Lindor has very quick feet and excellent balance as a shortstop. The 6’3”, 173 lb Gabriel Rosa (International Baseball Academy, PR) has a plus arm and very good actions, earning the #3 ranking. Even after he fills out and gains bulk, I believe Rosa still has a chance to play a big league-caliber shortstop.
George Springer;
http://www.draftsite.com/article/2011-MLB-Draft-Preview-College-Hitters/43 - At this point Springer is more of a swinger than he is a hitter. The tool that is going to carry him is going to be his power. With a long, lean, athletic build at 6’3" and 200 lbs, Springer has room to grow and it should allow him to hit for more power down the road. At the plate, he produces very good bat speed and loft in his swing. Presently, he is more a pull hitter, which isn’t a big surprise at this age. However he can get into trouble by cheating some, and diving for the ball instead of staying back. In the field his arm and speed are at average or a tick below, but should be more than enough for left field at the next level.
