Most Mets fans think the laundry list waiting for Sandy Alderson is headed up with names like Luis Castillo, Oliver Perez, and who the next manager will be. Actually, that is wrong.
It’s poop or get off the pot time for Jose Reyes.
The Mets need to decide what they want to do with their former all-star shortstop. Right now, 2011 stands as his last year, at $11.0mil, with a club buyout figure of 500K.

I mean, let’s dream… what would you get for a package of Reyes, K-Rod, and let’s say, Jenrry Mejia? Now we’re talking Grienke material.
For now:
Mets: - For now, let’s go with Reyes. Ruben Tejada will be his backup and that’s a pretty good combo.

Binghamton: - Well, the good news is Wilmer Flores has reached the AA level. The bad news is he’s supposed to be converting to the outfield and scheduled to start for the B-Mats are any combination of Sean Ratliff, Brahiam Maldonado (both possibly blocked), Pedro Zapata, Carlos Guzman, and Eric Campbell.
St. Lucie: Robbie Shields will play Lucy this year and, hopefully, make Mets fans forget about the Flores transition.
Savannah: There’s three to pick from here… just about prospect Wilfedo Tovar, Jet Butler, and Luis Nieve. It’s interesting that only Nieve is playing winter ball.
Short season teams: Not much right now. Ismael Tijerna should progress from the K-Port team , and Randol Santana should do the same from GGL.
Probable cut: It looks like time is out for the wrong Miquel Tejada.
Draft: Yes, the Mets need to fill at least two, possibly three slots at short.
Summation: Tough to figure out right now. It’s a B+ with Reyes, and probably either a B- or C+ without him, but then the SP outlook would go way up.
