Erie 12, Binghamton 3

The Erie SeaWolves collected 13 hits and scored in six different innings to hand the B-Mets a 12-3 loss tonight at NYSEG Stadium.

Binghamton starter Jeurys Familia was tagged for a season-high seven runs in four innings of work, his shortest start at the Double-A level. The Dominican right-hander walked three and struck out four.

Erie took advantage of a fielding error by Reese Havens on a potential double play to produce a four-run third inning.

Binghamton’s only offensive spark in the first half of the game came off the bat of Jordany Valdespin. The shortstop led off the third inning with his third home run of the year to cut the deficit to four.

The offensive attack continued for the SeaWolves. They added a run in the fourth off Familia and hung five more on Brandon Sage in the fifth and sixth.

Pinch-hitter Shawn Roof’s double off Roy Merritt in the seventh brought home Erie’s twelfth and final run.

Binghamton managed to plate two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Eric Campbell and a single from Jordany Valdespin.
