Erie 8, Binghamton 2

The Binghamton Mets wrapped up 2-6 homestand with an 8-2 loss to the Erie SeaWolves today at NYSEG Stadium. The B-Mets are now 19 games under .500, a low-water mark.

Tobi Stoner was saddled with his second loss of the season. The right-hander was tagged for eight runs on ten hits. He walked two and did not strike out any SeaWolves. His ERA kicked up to 12.60 after his five-inning effort.

After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the second inning, the B-Mets got a run off Erie starter Casey Crosby in the bottom half of the frame. Brahiam Maldonado reached on a throwing error by Francisco Martinez at third and came home to score on Jose Coronado’s single.

The one-run margin would not stand for long. Erie racked up three runs in the third capped by Michael Bertram’s two-run double off Stoner.

Trailing by four in the third, Jean Luc Blaquiere’s double brought home Binghamton’s second and final run of the game.

Erie would add three more runs in the fifth inning against Stoner with Bertram collecting a two-run home run, his second of the year.

Ricky Brooks and Rhiner Cruz combined to cage the SeaWolves offense. Both posted a pair of scoreless relief innings.
