The Detroit Tigers
officially released ’07 supplemental pick RHP Brandon
Hamilton, who spent last 2 seasons on restricted list. He hadn’t pitched
since 2009 (A-West Michigan) and was on the restricted list “for personal
reasons”. The story is he came to camp after the draft worn out from a long
season. The talent that made him an early pick was never seen again. Hamilton
left the team twice and the Tigers continued to be patient even through his
declared ‘retirement’ in March of 2011. Then, in March of 2012, guess who was
back? Well, the 23-year old retired again yesterday and went back home to
Alabama. Nathan Vineyard could qualify for a
roommate here…
Going into Wednesday, Daniel Murphy is batting .419 with 5 2Bs & 9 RBIs
in 10 career games versus Cincinnati.
Going into Wednesday, P
Chris Capuano is 5-0.

I do think #Mets will extend Wright, but not yet. They have
some time
Andy Martino -
Been writing about David Wright since
08, have never seen him so fired-up, focused, swaggery, whatever you want to
call it. Different level.
AAA-Buffalo:
Bisons activate LHP Chuck James from the Disabled List. RHP Jeff Stevens transferred to Brooklyn
Adam Rubin –
Mechanical adjustments
have led to a noticeable increase in velocity on right-hander Jeurys Familia’s fastball since the start of the
season with Buffalo. Mejia was sitting at 92-93 mph during early season starts,
but now is hitting 98-99 mph with some regularity. Familia still has been
working behind in the count too often. Although he allowed only one run and
five hits in five innings at Charlotte in his latest start, Familia required
101 pitches. Stilll, Familia (4-1) has limited opponents to two earned runs or
fewer in each of his past five starts. He has struck out 42 and walked 30 in 37
2/3 innings.
Brad Emaus emerges to finally play 2B… and hit a home run in the first inning. In
addition, Matt Tiulianinososopopo hit a
three-run inside-the-park homer, all against ex-Braves starter Jair Jurrjens. Then, just for the hell of it, they
tacked on four more in the third against Jair… it’s starting to look like they’re
going to keep Jurrjens in until he dies… he was finally pulled after 4.2-IP…
11-R. Yikes.
Ben Wagner pointed an amazing stat going into this game… the Bisons are 0-8 when Garrett Olson has pitched, but he hasn’t given up more
than 3-runs in any start. He must of shit when they scores four runs in the
first tonight.
Did anyone notice how many vowels
there are in the last names of this team?
AA-Binghamton:
I don’t know what else Collin McHugh can do to get a promotion to AAA. Line: 7ip
6h 0r 0er 1bb 6k. 92 pitches, 61 strikes…
This game is crazy… 0-0 into the 9th…Trenton is
hitless since the 4th…
Bottom of the 9th… Juan Lagares singles in Matt
den Dekker… 1-0 walkoff.
The bad news… Reese Havens is now hitting .146.
Adam Rubin –
Zack Wheeler (2-2, 2.05 ERA) showed no ill effects from the middle fingernail issue
that caused him to miss a B-Mets start. After missing a turn, Wheeler reentered
the rotation Thursday at New Hampshire and allowed two runs on six hits while
striking out seven and walking one in a 94-pitch effort over five innings
A+ - St. Lucie: -
Chris Young vs. Jameson Taillon… you can’t ask for
more than this…
Young - 5.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB,
2 K… meh…
3B Wilmer
Flores (.318) continues to pop, hitting his 6th home run off
of Taillon… 2-run double by LF Rafael Fernandez (.275)…
he also homered and drove in a total of four runs…
RF Cory
Vaughn (.228) was hitless again…
Game 2 was a Goeddel-fest: 6.0-IP,
0-R, 5-H, 0-BB, 1.57. We may have our next Mike Antonini, Eric Beaulac, Brandon
Moore, Dillon Gee here…
Evan Cory had a hit J
A – Savannah:
The Gnats have placed RP Estarlin Morel on the DL with shoulder soreness and
activated RP Chasen Bradford.
A healthy exchange:
Mack Ade asked - Toby, should we be concerned about
Jacob's (deGrom) age
Toby Hyde wrote, in response to Mack Ade - Not unless you can make him younger.
First two hits were by C Albert Cordero (.188) and RF Greg
Pron (.208)…
Yeah, I know… C Gary Sanchez homered… so did 1B Tyler Austin, his 14th of the season…
Somebody had to eventually get to
‘Johnny Pants’, so it’s the Yankees… Alex (2.94) gave up eight runs in 3.1
innings, followed by five more by Carlos Vazquez (4.13)…
Yeah I know… C Gary Sanchez had 6-RBIs…
RP Chasen
Bradford (4.00) got it down to one more run…
