For the past two seasons, Matt Price has been the anchor in the bullpen for the
back-to-back CWS champion South Carolina Gamecocks. After a sensational
campaign in 2010, in which he saved ten games (including three in the NCAA
tournament) and struck out 83 batters in 55.2 innings, Price put forth a career
year in 2011. He saved 20 games, and sent down 75 batters on strikes in a mere
59 innings. In the Gamecocks run to their second consecutive title he pitched
in with nine scoreless innings, spanning eight outings.

Byron Buxton is an 80 run

I’ll take Buxton.
"The college class is
one of the weakest of the last decade," said a national crosschecker with
a National League team. "Especially the hitters, there just aren't any.
But it's not just the college guys. Even Buxton is not a typical 1/1 high
school bat. He didn't play for USA Baseball. Even (2008 No. 1 pick) Tim
Beckham, another high schooler out of Georgia, had proved himself more
nationally compared to Buxton."
Unlike most students, Kevin Gausman isn't complaining that he has to work
Friday nights. After all, a college pitcher who is handed the ball on Fridays
is considered the team's ace. Gausman, a former standout at Grandview High
School, is filling that bill well at Louisiana State University. He's putting
together a sophomore season that could lead to him being a first-round
selection in the June amateur draft. The slender 6-foot-4, 190-pound
right-hander has an 8-1 record, 2.95 ERA and 112 strikeouts in 91 innings,
statistics that tend to make scouts run to their radar gun. His strikeout total
ranks third among Division I pitchers.
