TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Charlotte Knights in the second game of a four-game series at Knights Stadium (7:15 p.m.). The Knights won the series opener last night, 3-2, in 10 innings. The Bisons are now 3-4 on their season-long 10-game roadtrip that has already had stops in Rochester and Gwinnett.
vs. KNIGHTS: The Bisons are 0-1 against the Charlotte Knights this season. The teams split the season series 4-4 last year with each team winning a pair of games in the other’s ballpark. Buffalo has not won a four-game series at Knights Stadium since taking three of four, May 13-16, 2005.
SCHWING & MISS: RHPCHRIS SCHWINDEN takes the ball for the sixth time for the Bisons this year. The righty struck out a season-high eight batters in a no-decision in Gwinnett on Monday. Schwinden has allowed three runs or less in all five of his starts this season. If he had one more inning of work, his 2.33ERA would qualify as the 7th-best in the International League.
MVP: OFVALENTINO PASCUCCI brings a five-game hit streak into tonight’s game. Pascucci has averaged .368 (7-19) with a double, an RBI and three walks since May 5(2). Pascucci already has a 13-game hit streak to his credit this season. The slugger hit in 13-straight, April 13-29, and averaged .329 (19-58).
LUTZ GO HERD: INFZACH LUTZ has reached base at least twice in each of his last four games. Since returning to the team from the Mets on May 1, the slugger has hit .286 (6-21) with a .444 on-base percentage. On the season, Lutz’s .430 on-base percentage in the 6th-best mark in the International League.
Q-TIP: In his last 20 games (since April 20), INFOMAR QUINTANILLA is hitting .349 (22-63). Over that span, he leads all Bisons hitters with five home runs and 13RBI. Quintanilla’s 18RBI are second to only INFVALENTINO PASCUCCI (19RBI) for the team lead.
BISONS BITS: RHPJACK EGBERT turned 29 years old today...The Bisons have allowed more than four runs in a game only three times in their last 20 games since April 20...OFVINNY ROTTINO was optioned by the Mets on Friday and will join the Bisons during their current roadtrip.
METS UPDATE: Miami snapped the Mets’ (18-14) five-game with a 6-5 win over New York last night. Former Bison INFIKE DAVIS homered for the second straight game. INF DAVID WRIGHT added three hits in the loss and is now hitting .387 on the season. New York will look to rebound against the Marlins today at 1:05 p.m.
