B-Mets Roughed Up by Fisher Cats, 9-0


MANCHESTER,NH – The New Hampshire Fisher Cats tagged Darin Gorski for a career-high tenhits and defeated the Binghamton Mets 9-0 Saturday afternoon at Northeast DeltaDental Stadium. The B-Mets went just 1-for-10 with runners in scoring positionand stranded ten on base in their fourth shutout loss of the year.

TheFisher Cats scratched out the game’s first run in the third. Brian Van Kirk singledto start the frame against Gorski and scored two batters later on John Tolisano’sdouble to right centerfield.

NewHampshire kept the offense rolling the fourth. Following a leadoff walk to AJJimenez, the home team plated four runs on four hits. Brad Glenn drove in two witha double and Ryan Goins and Koby Clemens each collected an RBI on singles.

TheFisher Cats ended Gorski’s day with four straight hits to start the fifth. AJJimenez laced an RBI single to center and Mark Sobolewski delivered the finalblow with a three-run homer to right. Gorski allowed nine runs (eight earned)on ten hits and struck out five in four innings of work. Kevin Mulvey relieved thelefty and retired all three he faced to end the inning.

Aftera bumpy first inning in which he allowed a hit to den Dekker on his first pitchof the game, Fisher Cats starter Yohan Pino settled in for a fine performance.The righty struck out seven and allowed three hits over six shutout innings. Heretired the final seven he faced and 12 of the last 13 B-Mets.

Inhis Double-A debut Sam Dyson worked around three B-Mets hits to post ascoreless seventh. Eric Campbell roped a triple off the center field fence againstClint Everts, but the B-Mets failed to score in the eighth. Danny Farquharallowed two hits, but struck out three to close the game in a shutout ninth.

Pino(3-0) collected his second win against the B-Mets this season, while Gorski(2-2) was handed his second consecutive loss. Brad Holt and Robert Carsonclosed out the pitching tab for Binghamton with three scoreless innings ofrelief.

TheB-Mets (16-18) complete their four-game set against the Fisher Cats Sundayafternoon at 1:35 PM. RHP Greg Peavey takes the mound for Binghamton againstRHP Randy Boone for New Hampshire. The Horizons Federal Credit Union pre-gameshow begins at 1:20 PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
