TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Charlotte Knights in the finale of a four-game series at Knights Stadium (7:15 p.m.). Tonight’s game marks the conclusion of the Herd’s season-long 10-game roadtrip (4-5). Tuesday, the Bisons begin a modern-era record 16-game homestand against the Braves, Indians, Yankees and Clippers.
vs. KNIGHTS: The Bisons are 1-2 against the Charlotte Knights this season. Buffalo’s 7-6 victory yesterday gives the team the opportunity to earn a split of the series with one more win tonight. The teams won’t meet again until a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field from July 20-23.
WE ARE FAMILIA: RHPJEURYS FAMILIA takes the ball for the eighth time this year. The righty is coming off his best start of the season. On May 9, he tossed six innings of shutout baseball in a 4-1 win over Gwinnett. Familia has not allowed more than two earned runs over his last four starts. During that stretch, he is 2-0 with a 2.84ERA.
STREAKIN’: OFVINNY ROTTINO doubled yesterday to extend his hit streak to 16 games. Since the stretch began on April 18, the outfielder has averaged .328 (21-64) with eight extra-base hits and a .368 on-base percentage. It is the longest active streak in the International League and only four games shy of a 20-game streak set by Toledo’s Brad Eldred.
MVP: OFVALENTINO PASCUCCI brings a seven-game hit streak into tonight’s action. The slugger has posted a .360 (9-25) average during his stretch. Pascucci already had a 13-game hit streak earlier this season. From April 13-29, he averaged .328 (13-29). Pascucci currently leads the Bisons with eight home runs and 22RBI.
BISONS BITS: The Bisons are 18-1 this year when they outhit their opponents. That includes a 9-0 record on the road...RHPELVIN RAMIREZ has two wins and a save in his first four appearances at Triple-A. He has allowed just two baserunners (both singles) in 4.2 innings of work...RHPJOSH EDGIN earned his first Triple-A save yesterday. He had 27 saves at Single-A in 2011.
METS UPDATE: The Mets’ (19-15) lost 8-4 to the Marlins yesterday thanks to OF Giancarlo Stanton’s walk-off grand slam. Former Bison LHPJON NIESE threw six shutout innings in a no-decision. OF KIRK NIEUWENHUIShad two more hits to raise his average to .310. The Mets return to Citi Field tonight to host the Brewers at 7:10 p.m.
