Who's Hot, Who's Not- We Ain't Half Bad Edition.

The Amazins fans we're feeling good after taking 2 of 3 from the D'backs, they were feeling even BETTER after 3 come from behind wins to sweep the Phils in Philly but quickly came back to earth after the Fish took 2 of 3 from the team thanks to a pair of Francisco meltdowns. 6 of 9 ain't bad though am I right? Once again, since the team has a short 4 game home stand, I will combine stats from the 4 home games with the 6 upcoming away games.

Who's Caught David Wright Flame Syndrome
  • David Wright- .417 AVG, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 4 2B
    • 'Nuff said. Contract extension appears imminent.
  • Daniel Murphy- .447 AVG, 6 RBI's, 3 2B's
    • There was a lot of chatter this week amongst other Mets blogs about how the Mets should take advantage of Murphy's good play and TRADE him. My question is WHY would you trade a guy who is a) playing decently average defense at 2B, B) one of the vocal leaders of your team, and C) has a .328 AVG this season playing in the most pitching heavy division in the National League? Sure he's not hitting for must power this season, as evidenced by his .394 SLG, but he's still driving runs in and setting up RBI opportunities for other guys. If it ain't broke, dont fix it.
  • R.A Dickey- 2 Wins, 1.93 ERA, 1 pissed off dude for not getting a CG.
    • You take away his one start in the rain in Atlanta and you've got yourself the team leader (amongst starters) in wins, ERA, WHIP, and he only one without a loss. Dude was so severely pissed off that he couldn't finish the game against the Phillies that he pulled his best impression of the Turk Wendell resin bag slam. Believe it or not, He's on pace to be a 20 game winner.

Who's Caught Jason Bay-itis
  • Frank Francisco- 2 BS, 3.1 IP, 14.52 ERA, 2.258 WHIP
    • Honestly I'm borderline on this one, He did save back to back to back games and he was getting squeezed by the home plate umpire in Game 3 against the Marlins. However the fact of the matter is he has an ERA of 8.56 for the season and is allowing just under 2 hits/walks per inning. He's not missing bats and that's a huge problem for a closer to have.
  • Ike Davis- .154 AVG, 31% K Rate, Flu
    • Davis showed us a bit of a flash in the power department slugging .423 this time around but he's still not making enough contact and striking out in a third of his at-bats. To make matters worse now he has the flu.
  • Scott Hairston/Justin Turner- .188 AVG, 0 BB's
    • Both of these guys produce coming off the bench/in the clutch as they have combined for 6 RBI's and 4 2B's this week. However its becoming painfully obvious that neither should be relied on for even spot starts. Turner is obviously not a SS or a 1B and yet the team seems adament on turning him into 2012's version of Joe McEwing. For Hairston, besides his cycle performance, he's batting a paltry .185 on the season. Meanwhile, Whitestone local, Mike Baxter has a healthy .346 AVG and is becoming Collins favorite bench option.
