Q and A - Is 2013 For Real?

Ronda asked...  Hey Mack, should we believe what we are seeing here? Do the Mets really have a shot for the 2013 playoffs?

Mack - Fisrt of all, thanks for the question.

Ronda, ask me again at the end of June. Until then, lay back and enjoy what you are watching.

Right now (example: Monday's game vs. Philadelphia) there is only two Mets hitting over .300. One is Marlon Byrd who won a game with a timely hit and the other is John Buck who will come up for air soon. The secret will be if two other Mets pick up the pace when these two cool down.

It still revolves around the rotation, which has been mostly dominant. You give any staff five runs a game and you'll win 90 games.

My guess 'we're' still a fourth place team.

We'll see.

One certainly can not make a judgment based on how the Mets did playing doormat teams like the Marlins and Padres plus one game against a struggling Roy Halladay.
The big boys, Atlanta,Washington, and some others are the real test.
I agree that it is unlikely the Mets are anything better than a 4th place team this yr.
