Savannah (12-8) over Delmarva (11-10) 7-2
Gabriel Ynoa (W, 2-2) excelled, going 6.1 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits and one walk, with 6 strikeouts.
Hunter Carnivale pitched 1.2 scoreless innings of relief, allowing 2 hits, no walks, with 2 strikeouts. Bret Mitchell gave up 1 run on a home run, but struck out 2, pitching the 9th inning.
Jayce Boyd: 3-4, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, raised his league leading avg. to.429.
Kevin Plawecki: 3-4, HR, 2B, RBI, 2 R.
At the end of the night, it appears that Boyd and Plawecki will be #’s 1 & 2 in batting in the Sallie. Despite an 0 for 4 night, Brandon Nimmo will still be among the leaders as well.
Bradenton (7-13) trounces St Lucie (12-8) 9-1
Starter Domingo Tapia (L, 2-2) was tagged with the loss, going 5.2 innings, allowing 2 ER on 4 H, 2 BB, with 5 K.
Three Mets relievers, Wanel Mesa, Chase Bradford and Darwin Frias combined to allow 7 ER in 1.2 innings of relief. Hamilton Bennett pitched the final 1.2 hitless innings, striking out two.
Matt Reynolds (2 for 3) had St. Lucie’s only RBI, knocking in T.J. Rivera (1-5 with a 2B) who had the Mets’ only XBH and scored the only run.
Tacoma (10-10) @ Las Vegas (10-8)
After giving up a run on 2 doubles with no one out in the top of the first, Zack Wheeler has settled down and retired the next 6 batters in a row.
Meanwhile, Las Vegas came back with a run in the 1st on a Josh Satin double and an Andrew Brown single. They scored 4 more runs, all with 2 out in the bottom of the 2nd. With Jamie Hoffmann on 1st with a walk, Nieuwenhuis singles, Bixler walks, Satin singles, Brown singles, Flores singles, and badda bing - badda bang, it’s 5-1 Vegas.
Las Vegas adds 2 more runs in the 3rd inning, on a Zach Lutz single and an Omar Quintanilla Homer.
Wheeler gives up 3 runs in the top of the 5th on a homer, followed by 2 walks and a 2 run double. Las Vegas comes back with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the 5th on a Flores double, singles by Lutz and Hoffmann, and a sac fly by Quintanilla.
Zack Wheeler is removed with none out in the 6th after a home run and a hit batter. Gonzalez Germen comes in to retire the side 1-2-3.
Wheeler’s final line is: 5.0 IP, 5 ER, 6 H, 3 BB, 7 K, 2 HR.
Germen allows a run on 2 doubles in the top of the 7th. At the time this article is put to bed, Las Vegas leads 9-6 going into the bottom of the 7th inning.
