Mets Minor League Report – April 26

Savannah (13-8) over West Virginia (9-13) 4-2
Starter Steven Matz went 4.1 innings. His final line: 2 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 3 K.
Julian Hilario (W, 2-1) was awarded the win, pitching 2 hitless innings of relief, allowing only a BB, with 2 strikeouts. Beck Wheeler (S, 1) pitched a perfect 9th inning to earn his first save. The fact that he is 24, playing with younger players may, in part, explain Wheeler’s success this year. Thus far he has allowed only 1 hit and 1 walk (0.21 WHIP) with no runs (0.00 ERA) in his 9.2 innings of work.
Jayce Boyd: 1-4, HR, R.
Kevin Plawecki: 1-3.
Greg Pron: 0-2, 2 BB, RBI, 2 R.
The Gnats did not generate much offense this night. Fortunately, not much was needed.

St Lucie (13-8) tops Bradenton (7-14) 5-2
Angel Cuan (W, 3-1) got the W, going 5.0 innings, allowing 2 ER on 5 H, 1 BB, with 4 K.
Jim Fuller (H, 4) pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief, allowing only 1 hit with 3 strikeouts, earning a Hold. T.J. Chism (S, 3) pitched the final 2 perfect innings, striking out 3.
Dustin Lawley (2 for 3) was the offensive star. His stats for the night: 2 HR, BB, 3 RBI, 3 R.

Akron (9-12) blanks Binghamton (11-10) 4-0
It was a dismal night for the Binghamton offense, scratching out only 4 hits while striking out 16 times against 3 Akron hurlers. Every Mets hitter, except for Richard Lucas, struck out at least once.  Blake Forsythe took the dreaded Golden Sombrero, striking out 4 times.
Rafael Montero (L, 3-1) didn’t pitch poorly, but took his first loss of the season. His line: 5.0 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, with 8 K. With the 2 earned runs, Montero’s ERA ballooned to 1.95
Jack Leathersich pitched the 9th, escaping without allowing a run while giving up 2 hits and a walk. Meanwhile, he struck out the side.

Tacoma (11-10) @ Las Vegas (10-9)
At the time of this writing, the 51’s are being no-hit by Tacoma right hander, Andrew Carraway, through 5 innings. It appears that Carraway is throwing seeds at Las Vegas hitters. Tacoma leads 3-0.
