Soto- Let's Not Lose Faith, Remember the "Sandy Plan"

Oh ye faithful Mets fans. Lets us not forget that there is greater plan that is in play here. Let us not forget how 1969 and 1986 was built. Youth is here and more is on the horizon. Youth is followed by growth, and growth is followed by excellence.

Yes the Major League team is not good. But we knew that was going to be the case coming into the season. What we should have been focusing on from the start is the growth and results of the minor league teams. To discount the performances at these levels is a display of extreme ignorance and a lack of vision for seasons beyond 2013. The recent calls for Sandy Alderson's firing is straight up ludicrous and is a detriment to the intelligent Mets fans of the world.

In Triple A, the organization was booted out of Buffalo after 4 very unsuccessful seasons, playoff-less seasons with the only winning season coming in 2010 when they finished in 3rd, 8 games above .500. The organization is represented by the Las Vegas 51's (35-33) and so far this season have been playing above .500 baseball and are within striking distances of 1st place. Major prospects are getting ample playing opportunity and failures are riding the pine. Zach Lutz, Josh Satin, Andrew Brown, Zack Wheeler, Francisco Pena, and Wilmer Flores are just some of the names that are producing at this level with a surprise performances by Carlos Torres who has EARNED his way to the MLB.

In Double A, the organization is still represented by Binghamton but has had only 1 winning season in the last 5 seasons (2008) and only 2 in the last 10 years! (2004, 2008). However this season no one can come close to touching them. At 43-26 they are tied right now as the best Double A team in ALL of Baseball. This sounds all fine and dandy until you realize that the best is yet to come as PSL players make their way up after the All-Star Break. Some notable names should be Noah Syndergaard who is replacing Rafael Montero, Dustin Lawley should be up as well to join Wilfredo Tovar, Travis Taijeron, Cesar Puello, Cory Vaughn, Aderlin Rodriguez, and others.

You starting to see the picture yet? No? Then how about a 43-26 Savannah Sand Gnats team who should be promoting a bunch of guys here soon to improve a 33-30 Port St. Lucie Mets team that only trails the ridiculously good Fort Myers Miracle in the standings. Did I forget to mention that every Mets affliate is either in 1st or 2nd place right now?

Convinced yet?

Make no mistake Sandy IS NOT building a team for A championship. He is building the foundation to create a DYNASTY that has the ability to win MULTIPLE championships. There are still a few holes to be filled but this off-season there will be approximately $45MM to spend to fill those holes. Folks we may have at least a playoff caliber team here next season.

I don't know that the lineup or rotation are going to shake out exactly as written, but the strongest poInt still stands - this is about building for the long haul and to do that you have to build a foundation first.
