Druw Jones, OF, Wesleyan High School (Ga.)

Son of former MLB great Andruw Jones, Druw Jones, has a very loud swing and is likely going to be selected in the first round of the 2022 MLB Draft. If the Tigers have a chance to scoop up Jones, wherever they end up picking, it would be a stellar addition to the team.

Druw Jones takes after his father with a similar swing. He keeps the knees bent and hands high; with a big leg kick, the hands move back and then explode through the baseball. The hit-tool is present and quite loud.

Why does this dude remind me of former MLB star Andruw Jones? Because it’s his son, that’s why! Welcome to the prospect ranks Druw Jones. His athletic ability is among the best in this year’s crop. He’s 6’3″ and has the skills and instincts to stay in centerfield full-time. Much like a few other prospects on this list, he has plus-plus speed and amazes in the field and at the plate. The exit velocity off his bat is eye-popping. Much like Green, he has five-tool potential.

Andruw (Druw) Jones Jr., OF, Wesleyan HS (Ga.)

Jones has some of the most explosive athletic ability in the 2022 class and the namesake to draw in fans. The bat-to-ball skills here are impressive. Primarily an opposite field slasher to date, Jones went through a swing change recently and is now generating more power and producing more pull-side pop. He’s really engaging his lower half well and driving the ball with authority. At 6-foot-3, Jones has a prototype frame that should stick in centerfield thanks to plus-plus speed and impressive on-field instincts. He produces big barrel velocity with violent hands and an aggressive, whippy swing plane. Jones may end up a plus defender in centerfield with terrific speed and a plus arm to go along with it. He’s a high-level defensive prospect with a budding bat that may end up matching his elite chops in the field.

Druw Jones, OF, Wesleyan (Ga.) HS

Jones is the son of former MLB outfielder Andrew Jones. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound prep star is a similar player to his father, possessing five-tool ability. He is a quality defensive outfielder who has above-average speed and plenty of potential remaining in his game. The right-handed hitter consistently barrels up pitches and has displayed an improved power potential over the last year.

Andruw Jones, OF (Ga.)

6-3/180, R/R

Commitment: Vanderbilt University

PG Events: 59

Key Stats: 206 games, .436-9-160 with a 1.163 OPS

Short Story: Jones plays with grace and range on defense and seems to float as he covers all the green on the field. The arm plays and the instincts are exactly what you would expect as he has grown up around the game. The long body is starting to fill out and it is leading to big power numbers this spring, and he always had good bat-to-ball skills. Jones is tapping into the uber-tools that he owns.

Big Moment: There are a number of huge moments to pick from, though it might be the consistency that is most impressive. Let’s go with the 16U BCS National Championship, though. Jones hit .565 with 13 hits during a loud event. He showed a future glimpse of power, speed, and on-base skills. Of course, the lockdown defense in center field was also on display.

Bold Prediction: This comes down to strength, really. Jones continues to take leaps as he adds strength to his lean frame. As the strength continues to come to the frame the ball is literally flying off his bat right now. His double-digit home run total during the high school season is setting the stage for an incredible summer run.

Jones, too, has impressive genetics with his five-time MLB All-Star father but he also has an absurd five Most Valuable Player awards from Perfect Game tournaments in his career to go with a career .436-9-155 line in 199 PG games for the 643 DP Cougars that also includes 92 stolen bases and 179 runs scored.
