One run thru 4? Conforto 0 for 2, 2 Ks? Is it tacky to say he sucks?
Play Pillar. Bench Conforto.
I'm just waiting to hear Jake needs TJS then all bets are off as well as needing Baez to be our 2021 version of YC and thats a very tall order.
Also the Giants got Bryant for 2 prospects not in the top 100 so why didn't we do that? A RF replacement for MC and a RH bat was needed here.
Gary - Jacob has already had TJS. Not sure a putcher can have it twice. Guess we will find out. jacob threw more 100+ mph pitches than anyone else this year - and he threw them early in Spring Training. Don't think that helped.
John I agree but don't like the sound of this and we all know this is probably something more serious.
I think you are correct Gary. I think there has been an under lying issue all year that is now fully showing itself.
A consummately disappointing team. Make a statement. Bench Conforto, play Drury.
Even last year, when Conforto hit .322 in 233 plate appearances, he knocked in a miserable 31 runs. Highest BABIP in baseball in 2020. Some guys decline early. He might be one.
With MC usually this kind of season comes AFTER he gets the big FA $$$ so maybe we dodged a bullet but we can't keep running guys out there who are not producing and can we PLEASE stop running the Eickhoffs and Bandas and Hartliebs etc. out there not if we actually want to win this thing.
Dom's been a real disappointment too as I know after last years 42 rbi in 50 games we were all looking forward to breakout season but instead we get only 45 rbi in almost twice as many games.
When everyone last year was screaming to "Extend Conforto", Brian Joura at Mets360 was pointing out that his 2020 numbers included a very high Batting Average on Balls in Play - .412 while his MLB average has been around .300. This year it is around .247 - I guess things even out. It does seem this year, when he does make solid contact, it happens to be right at someone.
I look at Dom as Alonso post-2019. Successful year leads to big head, leads to crappy approach the next year. But, I certainly don’t like the three headed outfield because Nimmo has completely stopped hitting and no one picked up the slack. Conforto is a good hitter having a bad year. Lindor is a good hitter having a bad year but he’s already extended. What if they waited?
Several pitchers have had TJ twice, but usually it’s obvious. With JDG the tests show no damage.
Mets got Baez for only one prospect that’s not a top 100, but I still wasn’t in love with it. At least they didn’t get an expensive broken down second baseman…
Lastly, we have not gotten to see the whole roster as built in the off season. What a shame.
