Police: Dwight 'Doc' Gooden Arrested in NJ for DWI with Kid in Car

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Former New York Mets and Yankees pitcher Dwight "Doc" Gooden was arrested in New Jersey yesterday after getting into a car crash while under the influence of drugs with a child in his car, police say.

The 45-year-old Gooden is charged with multiple violations, including driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, endangering the welfare of a child, driving while under the influence of drugs, DWI with a child passenger, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, reckless driving, failure to keep right and failure to notify change of address regarding driver's license.
Franklin Lakes police arrested Gooden after responding to a 911 report of a car accident on Old Mill Road around 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Gooden has been released on his own recognizance. The oft-troubled Gooden has previously served jail time on a cocaine conviction.
