Reflections on Today's ST Game

-it was interesting to see Fernando Tatis (.111) back in the starting lineup... the last blurb I had seen on him was the fact that he was put on the temporary shelf for a sore left knee... guess things like that heal quicker when your competition (Chris Carter and Mike Jacobs) are playing so well...

-the Boston lineup looks pretty close to their opening day version, so it's very positive that SP Mike Pelfrey pitched the first two innings without giving up a hit... he finished with: 4-0-IP, 1-ER, 4-H, 2-K, 0-BB... ERA down to 6.30.

-there's been a good run in the past week on Mets starters. with both Oliver Perez and Johan Santana putting up excellent stats... only John Maine faltered this past week...

-there was nothing wrong with SP John Lackey today... 4.0 innings of 2-hit, 0-run ball...

-really interesting moves in the 5th inning... Boston came in with Jonathan Papelbon and Jerry counters with Jenrry Mejia... look, you just don't pitch a kid like this, this often in ST, unless you have plans for him in April.... Mejia was used for only one inning, which is what he would do if he becomes the 8th inning guy... what is this called? un-stretching?

-I'm taking Mejia off of the "Rotation Circus" posted on the left top of page one here... he's no longer a rotation candidate...

-Wow we wow wow... CF Fernando Martinez went 3-run yard on Ramon Ramirez, a real 25-man pitcher... he's hitting .560... Tejada's .355... Ike is, what, over .500? Interesting decisions have to made soon...

-I was starting to wonder what the heck happened to P Tobi Stoner, and, low and behold, he comes in for the 8th inning today... I know he's a long shot for the pen, and an even longer shot for a rotation spot, but I still have him in the "Rotation Circus"... but, giving up a run (4.15 ERA) sure doesn't help his cause... he did redeem himself, pitching a scoreless 9th for the save (3.38).

-just read on The Real Dirty Mets Blog than 2B/SS Anderson Hernandez was claimed by the Indians... when was he waived? I know he was out of options, so... so much for one of my 2010 plans of keeping him around long term for a utility spot... God, this kid must hate the Mets... doesn't it seem strange to waive a shortstop right now????
