Cutnpaste: - Marlins' Skipper on Paulino, Huskies’ Terry, Royal Frenchy, Simon on D.J, and Joura on Sandy

Marlins’ Skipper on Paulino:

"I think the Mets are getting a very good player," Rodriguez said. "Ronny Paulino, he knew even while he was playing that in his situation, he had a chance to be suspended. I think that's what affected him on the field. Maybe because he was playing on an everyday basis, that also took a bit [of a toll] on him. But I think he would have been able to handle the everyday work. I think it was more the mental side that really got him tired. He knew about [the looming potential suspension], and it took a lot of energy away from him worrying about the whole situation. But physically and talent-wise, I think he's capable of having a good year." - ESPN

Huskies’ Terry:

Terry Collins is the first Northwoods League manager to later become a manager at the Major League level. Collins, a former Duluth Huskies' field manager, was named the New York Mets' manager on November 23rd. The Michigan native is familiar with the Met organization as he spent the 2010 season as the Minor League field coordinator. - collegesummerbaseball.

Mack Ade
 Royal Frenchy:

The Royals have agreed to terms on a one year contract with free-agent outfielder Jeff Francoeur. The deal, which is pending a physical, includes a mutual option for 2012. The deal was first reported Wednesday via Twitter by FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, who said it's a one-year contract with the possibility for a club option. Bob Dutton of The Kansas City Star then tweeted that the Royals would announce the deal at some point Wednesday. - kansascity.royals.

Simon on D.J.:

But there is a kryptonite that has plagued Carrasco throughout his major league career, and it's one that reminds us of one of the Mets most significant statistical issues from last season. It's his opponents batting average with the bases loaded. It's so hideous, I can't even bring myself to type it as a number  - ESPN

Joura on Sandy:

So, as expected Alderson made two low-cost moves and as expected these moves on the surface seem to address specific needs. Not only did he sign a backup catcher, he got one that fit well with Thole. Not only did he get a reliever, he got one that could potentially get LHB out on a regular basis and limit the club’s need for a LOOGY.

These are not sexy moves like signing one of the top free agents on the market. Instead these are moves that barely register with the average fan. Welcome to the 2010-11 offseason. While these may be yawn-inducing during the cold winter months, they are the types of moves that could pay big dividends during the regular season. And even if they blow up, neither player will hamstring the club long-term - mets360
