The St. Lucie Mets won their fourth consecutive game Friday night at Digital Domain Park. St. Lucie took game one of a three-game series against the Charlotte Stone Crabs by a score of 3-0. The Mets improve to 26-22 on the half and 64-54 overall.
Three Mets pitchers combined to shut down the Stone Crab offense. Darin Gorski got the start and cruised through six innings allowing only one baserunner, a single erased by a double play to end the third inning. Juan Centeno broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning singling in Francisco Pena to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. Wilmer Flores added some insurance driving in two more runs in the seventh inning to put the Mets up 3-0. Eric Niesen walked a batter in two shutout innings of relief and Josh Edgin pitched a perfect ninth to close out the Mets 3-0 victory.
Gorski, Niesen and Edgin combined for the one-hit shutout of the Stone Crabs. Gorski improves to 11-1 and Edgin notched his seventh save of the season. Juan Centeno had two hits and an RBI and Wilmer Flores drove in a pair in the 3-0 victory. Jefry Marte and Rylan Sandoval each added two hits.
